It does hurt the time travel consistency a bit, but I'm glad they went for fun in this particular instance.

It was a fun bit that I really enjoyed... It just sort of breaks the time-travel logic the TPTB are going with. But, again, we'll just say time is splintered, there's echos, and such. So the punk is reacting to something he's not consciously aware of or at least for him the past is still there "enough" that he has that memory. (He's Marty's brother walking around with a missing head.)

I wonder how long until the crew reveal the truth about themselves to Rios' doctor love interest? Now that she's been released from ICE detention she's going to go back to her clinic and find Rios' commbadge.

Accidentally tap it, leading Rios, Seven and Raffi back to the clinic to retrieve it.

I think the mind blowing part will be when they drop the bomb that the Confederation timeline is actually the proper timeline and someone changed it into what we know.

So in order to save the world they need to change the timeline and make sure Word War III happens?

If it did happen in Confederation time then it's hard to link what is happening in 2024 to the Confederation future. Though I do have a theory that the reason why all humans weren't wiped out by the nukes is some were on the Europa Mission in space. When those humans came back they began to rebuild and maybe one of those humans was the parents of Zefram Cochrane. Maybe the goal is to make sure that mission goes off without a hitch. Not sure though what could stop it and also how any of this ties into any of the social issues like ICE,homeless or the climate change. I am thinking maybe the main villain who stops it will be Data's ancestor who we haven't seen yet.

Why? It would be thirty years away, likely (in both timelines) the final result of long running ideological wars.

But if a terrible 2024 leads to Nuclear War in both timelines then what could be changed differently that effects things after the nuclear war? Are we saying the key is to make the new Nuclear War different from the previous Nuclear War?

Who wins.

From the looks of "First Contact" I don't think anyone won. I don't think anyone can win a nuclear war. You are just lucky if you can barely survive it. Unless we are talking about needing to make sure certain important individuals survive like Cochrane.

We simply don't know, but it would likely be the point where we see the post-atomic horror Q talks about in "Encounter at Farpoint". Likely whoever could provide clean water and food would build quite a following. In 2024, someone is changed, probably a child that leads to decades of subtle change that ends with a different faction winning WWIII.

"Winner" might be the area with least damage. Even in 2061 people were on alert for strikes by ECON.

Isn't the nuclear war and WWIII the same thing? Also I am curious how this all leads to Cochrane and meeting the Vulcans that ushered in the major changes.
