The Our Star Blazers/Cosmo DNA has posted a link on their Facebook page for the purchase of the Japanese Blu-Ray release due out February 11th; a week after its premiere

That is to get a BD purchased at the theater than shipped out via CD Japan. Comes with theater exclusive items. CD Japan did similar for Part One. Got a copy about three weeks after the October release after shipping time. Probably won't do that this time, as it probably would not arrive in time for the convention I hope to be at the following weekend (I plan to run a few Star Blazers Fleet Battle System games based on content from Yamato 2205 at DunDraCon in Santa Clara, California over President's Day weekend).

(Besides I already pre-ordered from Amazon Japan)

These will not have subtitles. Japanese dub only.

    Okay, something odd was announced.
    『ヤマトよ永遠に REBEL3199
    "YAMATO FOREVER REBEL3199"
    『宇宙戦艦ヤマト2205 新たなる旅立ち』後章-STASHA- 2022年2月4日上映開始 (starblazers-yamato.net)

So thinking it over a bit. You know how they named their second series "2202" even though most of it takes place in 2203 because all the "2s" show it as the second series from 2199? What if 3199 is called that because of the "3" to indicate the third series of 2199?
But most of the series doesn't take place during 3199.

Also it seems like this might be the Be Forever, Yamato remake of sorts. So there is that plot twist to consider when talking about "the future".

    Google Translate says this:
"Space Battleship Yamato" remake series latest work
    "Yamato forever REBEL3199" production decision.
Please wait for a while for the follow-up report.

    Intriguing…

So, has Gamilus (Sp) been destroyed, or was that just a simulation?

Like in the original, Gamilas doesn't make it. Unlike in the original, it was still a populated planet in 2205.

A fansub of Part One seems to exist.

Any word on if Funimation plans on doing an official sub/dub of 2205? Also curious if we'll also see an Age of Yamato sub/dub as well.

Not as of yet that I am aware of. Given that Funimation hasn't done any of the now three films, I don't know if they will do those (Voyage to Remember, Ark of the Stars, and Age of Yamato).
Though if Rebel3199 is a full-on series, then it may stand to reason to do something with 2205 since that likely is part of the setup for 3199.

A recent Yamatalk confirmed the Rebel 3199 will be a 26 episode series and will at least show the Galman-Gamilas during the show.

So perhaps some sort of combined story that had elements of Be Forever, Yamato and Yamato III (The Bolar Wars)? (Because there are a bunch of plot points from both stories that will not make sense anymore in the remake timeline.)

I've managed to see all four episodes of Space Battleship Yamato 2205 that are currently available fan-subbed:

Got to say I'm enjoying this story very much, and I find it interesting that it appears that they are bringing in the alien enemy that appeared in the Prime Timeline Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection film from 2009.

The one thing I didn't care for it was the fact that they showed the enemy core burrowing devices that sped up the destruction of the planet Gamilas to have effectively impenetrable shields, yet when their actual ships and Fighters appear, suddenly the Gamilas weapons are fully effective against their ship Shields and able to blow them up like any other ship.

But it's interesting that they are introducing these are aliens at this point in their overall storyline.

I'm also someone who never managed to see the entire third season of Star Blazers in the US (I have read about the history of the third season and why it's not very well liked in the US because the dubbing was done by a different company than the first two seasons using different voice actors), but it appears that they won't be going into the Bolar Wars until after this 8 episode storyline has concluded, even assuming that's what they will do with the recently announced Space Battleship Yamato 3199 series.

But regardless, while the aliens here are clearly related to the storyline that was presented in Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection, they seem to have a better control of SaceTime technology, as I don't recall a planet ever being space jumped in the course of that film.

I also like that they didn't drag out the possible Saboteur onboard storyline; and I did like that when Yamato's security foiled the plot to force the ship into the jump gate, when Captain Kodi confronted him on the bridge, he said: " why didn't you just come to me first and tell me as if you know my history I've done this exact same thing in the past..."; and then of course makes the announcement that he's giving the order to jump to the current location of iskandar, and that it's in violation of the recall order issued by the Earth Cosmo Navy. :techman:

It's nice to finally be ignorant of any possible links to past storylines that I'm unaware of. For the first time I've got a (for me) completely new Space Battleship Yamato story to enjoy.

    Edited to add:
I was surprised and find it interesting that they appear to be giving Dessler a Redemption Arc storyline here. And I guess it's a very Japanese thing but I didn't really understand why the Gamelan character President Hiss decided to remain behind and die, and leave the daughter he loved to fend for herself.

And lastly, Queen starsha comes across as a very conceited person in the majority of the scenes her character is in. Her characterization here makes me wonder why she bothered to assist Earth in the first place 6 years earlier.

Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 has been confirmed to be a 26 episode series to be released in seven chapters. It will be set in the year 2207. They will be adding a few new and old characters to the series (Kitano's older brother is a new character, and Takeshi Ageha, who was a fighter pilot introduced as a main character in Yamato III.)

I'm taking that to mean that the Earth gets occupied by the Dark Nebula empire and that the Yamato leads a rag tag group of ships and resistance fighters to take it back.

That seems somewhat confusing. 2207 vs 3199... I don't think they sussed that title out too well...

I think the "3199" has two purposes.
    A. The "3" is there as an indicator that this is the third proper series in the new timeline (Yamato 2202 being the second with all the "2"s being there for said purpose even though most of the story happen in the year 2203)

    B. There is still a potential time travel element/curveball possible in the story from the Dark Nebula Empire/Dezarium. Maybe they are from the future, or have the means to see alterative timelines and are crafting one that will appeals to them in a thousand years, and thus try to give the impression they are from the year 3199.

Maybe someone here can answer this question. I've been seeing commercials at the start of some of the Anime video I watch on YouTube that says that Funimation has merged with Crunchyroll and now all your favorite Anime series can be found on Crunchyroll.
Is this true? I haven't seen anything in my searches, and what does this mean for Yamato?

Far as I can tell, Star Blazers is still only on Funimation.

This was posted recently on the ourstarblazers.com website. Make of it what you will.

Here's something interesting. The catch phrase we've seen for the forthcoming Be Forever remake (Rebel 3199) reads, "The enemy is...Space Battleship Yamato." Compare that to this quote from a 1980 interview in which Leiji Matsumoto describes the climax of Be Forever:
"One point is a realization that their own existence created their enemy. If they didn’t exist, their enemy wouldn’t exist. So they feel that they should never have been born. The story investigates the emptiness of that horrific fact, and brings despair over the purpose of Yamato‘s voyage."
