Space Battleship Yamato 2205

As far as we know, there will be only two parts to Yamato 2205. A remake of the OG New Voyage storyline with changes due to the 2199/2202 timeline. But just two parts already doubles the runtime from the original TV movie that was New Voyage in 1979.
So this isn't a - 4 episodes per disk - where the 4 episodes of each disc were premiered in a theatre in Japan first with the Blu Rays going on general public sale soon after? (IE it's not another 24 to 26 episode 'season'?)
:(

It will be two parts, eight episodes long by all accounts. But if this does well I imagine there could be a follow up story. Either more with the Dark Nebula (if it survives Yamato in part two), or move into Galmans war with the Bolar. Or something unexpected.

The Blu-ray for Yamato 2205, Part One, is out and orderable from places like Amazon Japan. No subtitles nor dub as of yet, but there is a group that plans to fansub Part One after they get their copy.

Doesn't Funimation have the rights to US broadcast and dubbing?
They ultimately got the rights to SBU 2199, but that was about a year or so after it was released. I know because the Japanese Blu-rays of that series did have their own English subtitle track, and because of that, I was buying them from Japan via CDJapan back in 2012. Voyager Entertainment still had the international and US rights, but they stopped Distributing they're subtitled version in the US after the 4th disc.

Funimation did have the rights to SBY 2202 before its release and that's probably why the Japanese version of the blue Rays no longer carried an English subtitled track. However Funimation either never obtain the rights to the SBY Celestial Ark feature film ( the one SBY film that was a wholly original story and not jist a compilation film); although that Japanese Blu-ray discs also had an English subtitled track; so there's never been an American produced subtitled or dubbed version of that film.

The Japanese may have hoped that FUNimation would express interest in acquiring the english-language rights for SBY 2205, and there may already be a deal in place; but nothing's been announced. It could be something that for whatever reason Funimation decided to pass on.

As I recall when SBY 2202 was released, and this time the Japanese Blu-ray discs had no English subtitled track; it was a few weeks or so before the Funimation deal was announced. That said, I believe SBY 2205 has been out for quite a while, but no announcement has been made regarding a US release by Funimation.

As a fan, I thought they did a decent job with both series; and I hope they have the rights and are in the process of completing a US subtitled and dubbed release, but I don't think it's a sure thing. :(

Does Voyager Entertainment even still exist anymore? Looks like their website is completely gone now.

The first Blu-ray for Yamato 2205 just came out this last week, so there is time. Plus this is a two part series, and Part two comes out in February, so Funimation could be waiting to see how Part Two is before they jump on it. Reaction to 2205 so far has been pretty positive, but it is only going to be eight episodes long split into two Parts.

Does Voyager Entertainment even still exist anymore? Looks like their website is completely gone now.

I believe it was reabsorbed into their parent Japanese company at some point.

Why should we assume she would not be qualified? We aren't sure what track she was on in 2198. She was a go getter when we first meet her in 2199. She could easily be qualified. She will have less command experience than Kodai and Sanada, but they have commands. She has the rank due to the heavy losses from both the Gamilas War and Gatlantis War. She is one of the few people with deep space experience and was a department head and senior officer on Yamato during 2199.

Plus we see her as an experienced captain in 2220.

More or less the same type of scene as was used in the 1979 The New Voyage film. But this time the placement of the scene makes the audience really, really want it to be February already.
