Earth and Vulcan are in trouble...

I really hope Oros doesn't end up to be behind the DMA with glowy silver eyes. It would basically result in Season 4 being a retread of Season 3, where a huge galactic threat was actually caused by a manchild with godlike powers who felt a feeling.
Nah, I don't think Oros is 10C. I think he was just an alien in our universe and really went to another universe via his transporter (regardless whether it was the most peaceful universe). The series will close with Tarka, Zora, and the 10C mining machine driving around different universes. Zora will help 10C mine without harming others and Tarka will be looking for Oros.

IDK, the complaining about a 13 episode season "taking too long to get to the 10-C" is pretty ridiculous to me.

Not every show is go-go-go with a short season (like say, Orphan Black)
The complaint really centers more around the fact that they didn't have enough content to cover the full season. Having an arc over 13 episodes is fine. But not having enough content (puzzling with a staff of professional writers) is an entirely different thing.

And also an arc that is fairly similar to last season's arc. "Last year – the whole galaxy is under threat from a negative space wedgie and only the crew of Discovery can prevent it from happening again, for some reason, because everyone else in the 32nd century apparently doesn't know how to do basic Starfleet things any more! This year..."

"The Galactic Barrier" is one of my favorite episodes of the season. Second only to "Stormy Weather".

Character dynamics first: I liked the backstory this episode gave to Tarka. The back-and-forth between Burnham and Rillak was also a highlight. Saru definitely showed his background as Kelpian who lived most of his life in fear as he seems nervous whenever he wants to move forward in his relationship with T'Rina. When Adira was back on Discovery, the way they seemed, I kept I expected them to say Grey broke up with them. Stamets makes a good surrogate father. No idea what to think of the Linguist; I assume we'll see work his magic when they finally reach Species 10C.

Which brings us to Crossing the Galactic Barrier: the stakes were appropriately high and it kept me in suspense as Discovery was trying to break through. I love it when they say they've reached extra-galactic space. They did it, and without help from someone else like the Traveller or the Kelvans. It really felt like a first.

Also, the micelial network is limited to our galaxy? I’m glad they nerfed it a bit, but didn’t they say in season 1 that it permeated the universe?

Consistency from Discovery writers?

Ouch. Even worse than I remembered. Discovery really needs a consistency advisor.

The only purpose of this character in this episode was to show how smart Michael Burnham is.
The writers make this character dumb, to contrast her against the smart Michael Burnham.
Every decision the President was not only wrong, after she got lectured by Michael Burnham, she reverted all her decisions and agreed with Burnham.

President: We need to wait for the delegates.
Burnham: No
President: Ok, let's go.

President: We need to abandon the mission to contact the 10C and turn back.
Burnham: No
President: Ok, let's continue.

President: We need to keep the information secret.
Burnham: No
President: Ok, let's tell the crew.

Great minds think alike, I guess.

It was good, not great. I didn't care for the Book and Tarka subplot. Basically Tarka had told the truth about why he wanted the power source. Very underwhelming. It would not be a waste if his friend turns out to be species 10C. But I hope 10C are much more alien than that one.

The Discovery parts of the episode were good. I thought the mushroom network ran throughout the universe but seems like not so near the galactic barrier. I didn't mind this particular retcon as having the ship go through the barrier was much cooler than just jumping outside of it.

Loved the Gilligan Island reference. lol

I am going on a limb and predict that Discovery will succeed in its mission and Earth and Nivar won't be destroyed.

Char, could you please stop posting those awful Major Grin videos..? They add little to nothing here, what is your point..? We know you prejudicially hate DSC anyway, but you’re voicing that amongst mostly fans of the show and Trek in general. That is irritating, bordering trolling. Also rating every episode 1/10 as a standard is kind of telling you are not committed to present actual critique. Why don’t you take it to YT comment sections..? You’ll get all the support and likes there. Here you are just like a mosquito bite: I know I should ignore it and leave it alone, but I just can’t help but scratch…

It is quite funny that they don’t even follow their own continuity now. :)
If they just said the galactic barrier interfered connecting to the network outside the Galaxy, it would have made more sense.

He is the new Stewey ( wonder how many people get this reference) but less interesting and more annoying.

I kind of got that from the episode tbh, that the network doesn’t exist in the barrier itself…. Maybe Stamets and Lorca were over-hyping the network when first discovered, but now -1000 years later- they’ve learned that the network is not accessible in certain area’s, one being the massive Galactic Barrier….

This has been the style all along. Dribble out info episode by episode. And in this case, start First Contact when you have only days to go before awful destruction by visiting someone else.

Sounds like you'd prefer a two-hour movie instead of a 13-episode serialised season? :)

It's also entirely plausible that Gilligan's Island went through a revival at some point.

"Gilligan's Island: The Next Generation" was a huge hit!
