    I'm not an STD Fan because I'm not a fan of Sexually Transmitted Diseases. No one should be. But, if someone is, then hey. I'm not here to judge...

    But, on the other hand, I am a DSC Fan because I'm a fan of Discovery. I abbreviate it as DSC formally and Disco informally. DIS as an abbreviation is okay too, even though it's not what I go with.

    DSC is also written on the side of the shuttle craft in the show.

    And no, it doesn't stand for Discovery Shuttle Craft, as the Shenzhou's shuttle is abbreviated SHN (and SHNZ in the Mirror Universe)

    STD makes some sense because it acknowledges the Star Trek in the title but when you think about it is also the only one that would. TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise don't. What is also interesting about Voyager and Enterprise is I feel they use their acronyms the least and also funny was their use to be a big deal about Star Trek not being in the name of the show but nowdays most people just call it Enterprise instead of Star Trek: Enterprise anyways.

    CBS's official abbreviation for Voyager is VGR (according to Van Citters), but almost no-one uses that.

    Boimler calls it VOY in Lower Decks.

    I never called it "Star Trek: Discovery", I call it "Discovery" or, yes, "Disco". The "Star Trek" part is understood, so it doesn't need to be said.

    As far as IRL, I don't talk about Enterprise at all. I never did even when it was on. The only Star Trek show that usually comes up among most of my friends is TNG. The few times it's not TNG, it's usually TOS. That comes with the territory of being in your 40s.

    IRL, I call them:
    TOS --> "Star Trek" or "The original Star Trek"
    TNG --> "Star Trek", "Star Trek: The Next Generation", or "Next Gen"
    DS9 --> "DS9" or "Deep Space Nine"
    VOY --> "Voyager"
    DSC --> "Discovery" or "Disco"
    PIC --> "Picard"

    I only use "Star Trek" in the name for TOS and TNG. That's the way it's always been. On a subconscious level, maybe it's out of respect for the fact that both were created by Gene Roddenberry and the rest are just spin-offs created by other people, regardless of whatever I think of them, good or bad.

    So even if you try to make the use of "STD" sound more palatable, it doesn't work. I'll say what I always say: when I see people call Voyager "STV" or Enterprise "STE", then maybe I'll begin to take that argument seriously. Until then, no dice.

    ...and that was onscreen, therefore canon. Good enough for me.

    About that prequel comment a couple pages back..

    Either everything is a prequel to Calypso or nothing is a prequel unless it’s set before Enterprise. Just sayin’.. :rolleyes:

    I agree. I was five years old when I sat down and watched "The Man Trap" in 1966 with my dad. I've enjoyed every iteration of Star Trek since.

    Another bogus "season"! Everyone knows Discovery was canceled 4 years ago! But do they really think people can fall for it!?!

    This seems like a good time to share that I had the extraordinary experience of meeting a real-life person recently who told me Discovery was canceled in 2018, and they're just airing leftover episodes now. Somewhere out there, people are reading our satirical comments and nodding in vigorous, sincere agreement.

    Well, obviously, everybody knows seasons always have 26 episodes, so if they cancelled it in 2018, we'd still have 3 episodes to go until we reached 52. Or maybe rather 5, considering that two-part pilot is obviously not a part of the actual first season, given how much of a soft reboot the third episode was.

    Am I doing this right?
