I wouldn't mind seeing Alden from "Where No Man Has Gone Before(TOS)." He's the communications officer, I believe, in the second pilot and is a Lieutenant so should be the right age to be a Cadet or Ensign in SNW. More representation on the bridge with an additional black man, plus he's a one-appearance legacy character we never saw before the second pilot and never saw again.

I'm really curious about Uhura, M'Benga and Chapel in SNW. They're legacy characters but all almost blank slates, and theres tons of potential for Prime Spockhura with a bitterly jealous Chapel in the shadows.

M'Benga was actually featured in the Star Trek Vanguard novels. Bloody read all around, so if you're game. He's not in all the novels mind you, but still.

I hope they don't. The man is probably not even on the Farragut anymore since almost the entire crew may have been wiped out by the dikironium cloud creature in 2257 and he's since been reassigned, but knowing these writers they'll have a 26-year-old Lieutenant or recently-promoted Lieutenant Commander Kirk show up on the Farragut and talk about an incident he barely felt comfortable bringing up even with his former Captain's son in 2268.
