I gave it a 7.

Not many laughs this time, but the ending (which you knew was coming from all the set ups) was pretty damn funny.

I gave it an 8.

It had some very funny moments, but I feel they missed out on a better appendage joke - they could have had Ransom's head pop off and go to orbit at some point sure; but they should have had him start enlarging his hand (and making it green too); given all the other TOS 'god-like being' Easter eggs they had in the episode. But yeah, finally stopping him completely by putting him under a rock was a nice touch. ;)

(Although I don't think anyone in a live Trek series ever vomitted up 'strange energies before, so that was new.)

Or, Jennifer is deliberately using either a Federation Standard name, or has her natural name Anglicised*.
One of my colleagues told me her mother gave an Irish name with an English spelling, so that her CV wouldn't be immediately dismissed for being black on job applications.

I'm consistently using an anglicised while in England, including with authorities. As long as they don't hear my accent, they cannot immediately pick up on me being an immigrant.

*In the non-canon Star Trek: New Frontier novels, the Xenexian M'k'nzy of the village Calhoun adopted the name Mackenzie Calhoun while at Starfleet Academy.
There is also the chance her mother just liked human names

As much as I love animated Riker and the Titan (so far), unless they plan on doing a spin-off I hope they limit how much we see of them.

it has a real chance to overshadow the main characters.

I voted 9... but on reflection, a solid 8.

Have to dock it a smidge b/c it's a little disappointing that the main story turned out to revolve around resetting the character dynamic between Mariner and her mom on the Cerritos. It would have been nice if they'd let the characters actually evolve.

That said, it was a pretty amusing nod to Gary Mitchell's outing on TOS (and to the often slap-dash nature of Star Trek "science fiction stuff" in general). Tendi's B-plot made her seem... a little frighteningly unhinged, I guess, but it was good for a chuckle; getting to see Ransom's massive disembodied head out the windows as Tendi and Rutherford have their heart to heart was a nice touch. And our little glimpse of Boimler's terrifying new career at the end made me smile, I wonder if we'll be seeing more of the Titan next episode (which apparently is set to serve up some Tamarian funsies to judge by the title, looking forward to that).
