The One Thing You Could Change - Move Edition

TMP - Have its timeline match up with the real, as it have the film set 10 years after the last episode of TOS, so the ship would've had the last year or two of its five-year mission, undergone a refit and carried out another five-year mission and was partway though another, throughout this time a whole new crew is essentially running the ship. When V'Ger approaches, the new crew of the Enterprise go out to deal with it. Now this could go in one of two ways from here: first being they are the heroes and complete the mission; second is that they are badly hit and take losses, resulting in Kirk and Co having to quickly assemble once again to intercept the invader.
I like the second approach that Kirk and company are forced to scramble a bit to try and rescue the newer crew. Due to the losses the old and new have to work together.

GEN: Beverly would be Picard's wife inside the Nexus
it's revealed in the Christmas scene that picard's spouse is wesley
STID: Have Carol Marcus be working with her dad.
that's why she didn't want the torpedoes disassembled. she already knew what was inside.
also I was thinking conversations between say Uhura and Krall could've expanded on his character and motivation
give krall a understandable reasons for his actions, not just "crazy."
s "Erase from history the idea of the Enterprise finding God
better still, have them actually find god.
Pike should have said, "You could be captain of a ship like this in five years." To which Kirk replies with his cocky smile, "I'll do it in two."
or have kirk say "I'll do it in a week."

skip ahead a single week and play the rest of the movie as seen.

Tim Russ has a bit part as a human officer ship in "Generations," long before the character of Tuvok was thought up. But Tuvok served in Starfleet in this era, so I'd put Russ in Vulcan makeup for that cameo.

TMP: Less flying around in a cloud. Maybe total movie makeover.
TWOK: Spock maintanance scene (where he died) should have been less fake.
TSFS: More difficulty hijacking the Enterprise.
TVH: Bird-of-prey bridge should be the same as in TSFS.
TFF: Total movie makeover
TUC: Kirk and McCoy shouldn't have trusted Martia from the beginning.
GEN: Having Kirk NOT dead in Generations would mean a lot for me. It was awful how Star Trek got rid of Kirk. Just let him teach on Starfleet Academy or something like that.
FC: Data should have ruptured the coolant tank before Picard walked in.
INS: The Son'a should have better motives.
NEM: Another candidate for the total movie makeover.
ST09: Less lens flares (all three reboot movies), better Enterprise interior (also all reboot movies), Nero and crew should have been more Romulan since they're Romulans.
STID: Don't introduce Khan, just keep it John Harrison (or another villain).
BEY: When the swarm came at the Enterprise, couldn't they just turn around and flee at warp speed?

TSFS - they are unable to bring Spock back, forcing our heroes to deal with the permanence of death. So Saavik takes over as resident Vulcan character.
TUC - Saavik is the traitor instead of introducing the new character of Valeris.

Huh?

TFF: Total movie makeover.

We need the "I need my pain" line though...

I got the feeling Kirk pretty much did...

Can I interest you in several novels by William Shatner and the Reeves-Stevenses?

INS: Nothing I think, I can't see anything they should change.

I keep reading this but can't believe I'm reading it...

The death scene was very good, but before that, he was doing maintanance on a dangerous section. It doesn't look that dangerous and there is just a pole standing in the middle of the room. Doesn't look like a critical system.
I mean., I don't know how you make it more dangerous looking. Scotty already telegraphs the radiation flooding the compartment, McCoy tells him he can't, bright light flashes up when he works with it. What else is to be done?

I am one of those who consider TWOK the gold standard for Trek films, and the construction of that set has always bothered me. Yeah, Scotty says it's dangerous, but I have a hard time believing that based on what I see. Among other things, the pedestal shifts when Spock removes the top.

Ok. I guess I never had an issue with it. I'm not sure what else is supposed to be done to make it more dangerous since the danger the is radiation which isn't exactly easily to visually represent.

The only thing they could have done to make it make more sense would have been to put the chamber against the intermix shaft, probably at the front of Engineering. That would have eliminated the door to the corridor from the Tardis, but that door didn't make sense from a "where is it on the ship?" perspective. We've all come up with our own headcanon for why that chamber is off to one side by now, and I personally accept that headcanon. YMMV.

I mean, Mr. Scott's Guide was helpful for me.

I totally get why the BoP bridge wasn’t reused from TSFS. It was obviously a cheap set and was probably scrapped after filming. But; when TVH made the BoP the hero ship, it’s bridge became a major set for the film requiring a larger and more detailed set. (And one we saw for years afterward)
Still agree Saavik should have been the traitor.
