Just for completeness, and to round out this thread, here's the final version of the new badges (at least as far as I can work out from all the pics I've managed to comb through so far...!)

Looks like one of the fan mockups for the Picard badge, yeah. They also had one that looked like one of the fan designs someone posted here:
Season 3 is in 4k?The money shot...
I can imagine them saying that a lot about many things. The focal point is definitely affixed perfectly to the badge eye-line. It's like the producers said, "Here you go, shut up about what the badges look like, already!"![]()
It it one of the odder design choices.I still hate the rank being on there, you'd have to be like a foot away to make it out.
My screen is anywaySeason 3 is in 4k?
From The Ready Room:
The new TriCom badges use hand gestures:
Up - Holopadd
Squeeze and pull out - Tricorder
Tap - Transporter controls
Double tap - Transport to home
So the thing monitors your hand movements... guess a lot of single officers get all kinds of holo stuff in their face all the time![]()
And here's the official design:

That it's tied directly in to the ships computer and can access all systems. It isn't running the processes but acting as a gateway to all the processes, transporters, sensors, force fields.Even by Trek standards. Flame me if you must, but also give me some hypnotically convincing technobabble to sell how it works. Please!
