That was weird/random. Would it be that unusual if a human and a Barzan knew the same lullaby in the 32nd century?

    I mean, it's a tell for something, but it's a damn stupid Chekhov's gun.

Eh, maybe not as bad. But there hasn't been a Terran who wasn't morally loose.

Well maybe its due to education, remember the UE and UFP sprung out of the ashes of World War III, a war won by the United States and (presumably) its European allies against the Eastern Coalition. It makes sense, especially with Starfleet HQ/Academy being based on SanFran and Federation HQ being in Paris that they would be biased towards a Euro-centric viewpoint.

It was Tal/Grey that knew the music and passed it on to Adira.
Obviously, the symbiote knowing it is going to be an important clue down the line.

True. But you are overthinking it. It was just an analogy meant for the audience. It was a convenient example that the audience could easily understand, and that the writers could use to convey the ideas that they were trying to get across.

I got the idea that the symbiote taught Adira how to play the song, but I didn't infer the song itself came from Tal. I'll have to rewatch the scene.

Speaking of eyes. I don't recall the Barzan woman from TNG having particular eyes... Maybe they've found a way to correct that "defect" between the time of Disco and the time of Picard...

Can't really justify the blinking hack, but the distorted voice is clearly to signal that the person you are talking to is a hologram. Also gives the option to disguise holograms as people by turning the feature off.

Not a fan either, but there are bad Federation humans without that "biology" so the idea might be that the ratio is flipped. There are as many good humans in the mirror universe as there are bad in ours.

Lt. Willa: Admiral Vance, the good news is we found a planet with a massive amount of replenishing fungi spores that will allow us to recreate Discovery's spore drive and restore the Federation to its former status.

Admiral Vance: Just tell me what the bad news is.

Lt. Willa: The planet has an entire kingdom of sentient fungi, and they have protectors who are not going to let us have their spores.

Admiral Vance: Wipe them out. All of them.

So basically the Mirror denizens are absolved of all their misdeeds as it's now not their fault. They might as well just be green orcs.

Oh, wow. For me, that was a deep fall from 9.5 last week to... maybe 6 or 7 at most.

Minus one for the really, really lame GOT reference in the preview.

I will say that for someone not interested in ship porn, I really enjoyed the ship porn!
    USS Nog is nice.

    I actually liked the Admiral.

I think that's about all the positive thoughts I have... Even the Stamets/ Reno banter fell flat for me.

Oh, one thing: imho, holo (?) Georgiou can only improve... Undoubtedly an unpopular opinion, but there you have it.

    More thoughts later.

Imagine if, early on in DS9, they just causally said that Cardiassians were naturally suspicious due to gene ____.

Garak would have been so much less interesting as a character.

Interesting the liberal use of holograms- disturbing that they're little more developed from what we saw in Picard.
Where are the androids? The prohibition was lifted at the end of Picard series 1. I would have expected to see more of them by now (although they seem to use robots much more than ever seen before)
Section 31 knows all about Discovery, as I suspected. Georgiou was also supposed to be secret and wiped from all records, yet S31 guy seemed to know all about The Empress and her home universe. I'm still wondering if he's been waiting for her arrival.
Neat collection of Starfleet ships. Most of them look like they were designed for conventional warp drive so assuming shipbuilding has also come to a grinding halt post-burn? I assume there will be a big reveal of this century's Enterprise in the closing moments of the season again.
    That music. Hmmmmmmm

Spoiler alert: That will be in next week's episode along with the USS Defiant-K, the USS Enterprise-V, the USS Boimler, the USS Sheldon Cooper, and the USS Mackenzie Calhoun. Just joking, but it would be nice if Harry finally got some respect.

I didn’t take any of that seriously. They kept throwing shit at her to ruffle her and it didn’t work until the remark about caring for someone on Discovery.

The ban was lifted but we don't know how quickly it was embraced.
