Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

The horse is an irradiated mutant from so many nukes from orbit.. we had to be sure, but it was not enough.. The horse lives, and its only joy in life is to be beaten to death, then resurrects itself.. like a very drab phoenix!
It's like that DS9 S1 episode where Opaka and these soldiers kept fighting, dying, getting revived XD

This might have been cool...although I can't stand half the ships lol...VARIETY is the MELANGE of life.

I don’t think they had the time or the budget to recreate EVERY STAR TREK STARSHIP EVER MADE.
Sometimes you don’t have to give a flying flip about their budget. I’m saying it would have been cool.

Additionally, if you can’t afford a shot, don’t junk it. You saw as many ships on the Dominion War because the tech was there for it. They didn’t attempt something similar during the Klingon Civil War in TNG.

I would have been far happier with a bunch of lower polygon designs further apart that could later be better fleshed out than the typical sci-fi schlock of walls of ships bumping into each other anyway.

Literally that, no. But something similar? Yes. It’s a flavor of a more diverse fleet, and it looks cool to me.

As Chabon mentioned, three ship designs were approved, but only one of them made it to the screen. I’m sure that we will be seeing more and different starships for season 2, preferably the Enterprise-F (and not the ship from STO.)

But Eaglemoss already has. That's where the picture came from. They're all in a different software format than the shows' VFX teams use, and CBS may not have included a right to poach the CG models EM commissioned to use in movies and TV shows, but those are both solvable problems, and considerably easier than the shows themselves doing the scut-work of rebuilding the Star Trek archive themselves from scratch after a decade-and-a-half production gap (which EM has spent eight years doing).

There's a theory the Ent-D in Picard might be the Eaglemoss model because of the mirrored Shuttle bay's on the neck.

But that could also be the case that the Picard VFX artist made the same mistake as eaglemoss modellers, and didn't realize those shuttle bays were not identical.

Is the horse dead yet? Good grief...
On a board that has threads hundreds of posts long, flogging every topic to death? Oh please, you're making me hoarse with laughter.

So here's the scoop:

Considering the number of ships and limited space and time to show them, its a wonder anything can really be gleaned, but after asking around with a few questions myself and looking at some more evidence (as well as checking a few more angles of the ships), here is what I think we can settle on:

We are being told from sources there are at least 2 types that made it on screen out of the 3 originally planned, whether these are both clear, I do NOT know for sure. I still can only see one type for certain.

What is certain is there at LEAST 3 variations, confirmed from two angles, one of which I highlighted earlier in this thread, I can't see more though that doesn't mean they didn't throw a few harder to see nacelle variations in the background.

My hope would be the creatives and SFX people are reading social media and will open Season 2 with a big, slow flyover from the Inquiry Class to shut all the crybabies up. :bolian:

RAMA

Nope. One class, with two nacelles. Some lighting differences, but that’s it.
