I think that’s right. The STO graphics show two distinct engine types at different angles on the same main body. Pretty much what everyone already knew... except one or two folks.
Yes, that's the only odd part. It that a giant shuttlebay in the front, or a giant secondary deflector? And what could the 2 nacelle types possibly do differently? One for speed, one for range?It’s not bad - not spectacular, but not bad. I think I like the forward navigational deflector the least. It shouldn’t look like a Buick grille, but that’s just me.

Well, one hull that can have two types of nacelles bolted on, only one of those types can be bolted on in two different ways, too. Or is equipped with hinges, take your pick. Which may give "three" in some people's books, even though I'm loath to admit to more than "one-plus".
The original intent was to have four different hulls. And that never happened. But the "three variants" count may get confused with the "intent of four" declaration by the Makers. (I doubt they would have done any nacelle variants had they been able to complete four distinct hulls in time.)

Third option - only two on a single hull type for lack of budget.
There were only three approved designs: The Inquiry class which was shown on screen, the Equity class, and the Seeker class. But again, that wasn't what I was talking about.
