I DIDN'T SAY NO COMEDY!!!
Just that THIS type of comedy is too far.
For me.
If you like it, fine, go stroke to it.
But for me its too much and doesn't fit. Heaven forbid I should have my ow giddamn opinion that doesn't immediately love everything just because "Star Trek" is attached to it.
So, you tell people who liked it to “go stroke to it,” but then complain that you received some pushback from folk who don’t agree with your negative opinion? Have you considered that perhaps it’s YOUR attitude that needs addressing?
The fonts seem inconsistently displayed. I see Eurostile in several places where it ought to be Millennium/Starfleet Bold Extended or Eurostile Bold Extended...and Helvetica UCE is not in all the spots it ought to be.
Honestly... I don’t even know what to say to this.
Lame "humor."
The jokes are largely about Star Trek.
I didn’t see a single joke about Star Trek?
Rick and Morty is about horrible people. I have no desire to watch a Star Trek series about horrible people.
I’ll tell you what, I feel sorry for Mike McMahon that he is seemingly just seen as a Rick and Morty guy. It’s as if he’s never worked in television before, and just has one credit to his name.
Just because adult comedy is his playbox, why on Earth is his output defined by one project that he worked on?
Hell, he’s had a new show debut in the time since he left Rick and Morty, and it was one co-creates by him, and was given a quick renewal for a second season. Why aren’t we considering THIS?
I would HATE if my performance was always determined by one job I did, especially in the entertainment industry.
Man, that really really sucked.
If
you thought the content “really really sucked,” that’s your
opinion, not fact.
Previews are all about asking the audience one question. "Do you want to see more of this?". I DON'T want to see more of this.
If the previews are only asking this one question, how on Earth did you jump to a million other conclusions in other posts that you have made on this subject?
And, as you have already been told, now that you’ve decided you don’t want to watch it, just grab your coat, and leave. Let those who WANT to enjoy it, do so without having someone like you ruin it for them.
Many of us have very little to enjoy in life, currently. That we can’t even come to a safe place to share our enjoyment of something with people of equal mind, is a god damn travesty.
You and Nerys are not gatekeepers to this franchise.
Nor are you.
When they say this show actually occurs in the same Star Trek canon that's been around for 50 years, you're not adding to Star Trek. You're changing it to something that it is not.
Not at all. They’re just exploring a genre that Trek has yet to visit. More power to them, for trying something new and different.
I just can't believe how opinion of Lower Decks split along Star Trek Partisan Lines so completely (I'd say by about 95-99%) even though this series doesn't seem much like DSC or PIC at all.
That makes me extremely suspicious. At best, I think some people are taking their anger at DSC and PIC, which are very different shows, out on a series that doesn't deserve it. At worst, I think it's outright tribalism.
Honestly, I think that if someone is wired to moan and bitch incessantly online about cult tv shows, etc., then I think that’s their default setting. These people are never going to support new Trek.
Phaser 'joke' was really stupid. Even by modern standards. It was also racist and sexist as fuck.
But who cares.
You’ve already been called out for this embarrassing statement. Saves me the hassle!
I won't be surprised if Lower Decks is one and done.
As has been said, it’s got a two season run, minimum.
That said, it could go either way, I suppose. Being animated, it could go longer than any Trek thus far, or it may just be one that CBS dabble with, then move onto someone new.
The desire, by CBS, to explore new genres and not allow Trek to be defined as one thing, for one audience, should be commended. For me, it’s brilliant, given I have a vastly wide taste in television.
There might be some young fans who see it and really allow it to take off. I'd LOVE to see that.
They need that young adult crowd to latch onto it, for sure. I wonder how being on CBSAA will impact that, given they don’t seem to have targeted that adult comedy fan demo yet?
But, CBS know what metrics they will be using to judge the success of this show, and we will only ever be able to guess. The fact they’ve only started advertising this show one month before launch, tells me that they aren’t using it to try and make the dent that Picard and DIS made, which is great. In fact, such an awareness and understanding of their products and their marketplace is quite reassuring for me, going forward.
I really hate to explain the obvious things, but if you all insist: the black girl is shown as a brain dead idiot who cannot properly handle dangerous weapons. An idiot who is not even able to admit her mistake. Nothing funny about this.
Honestly, after reading this, I hope you stay out of any actual important and meaningful race discussions that are currently taking place across the world.
Yeah, it's getting to be a little crazy. I'm going to peak into the good, old DSC Forum where it's calmer and less crazy.
I didn't think I'd be typing a sentence like that until years from now!
Once upon a time, I never thought the ENT forum would be anything other than a blood-soaked battlefield. Imagine my surprise, when I returned after years away haha.
It reminds me of Final Space. I can only hope it is actually that good.
Honestly, if this show is even half as good as Final Space, then that’s perfect. Final Space is a goddam masterpiece.
