Lower Decks Trailer Analysis

Sorry, I just can't fathom an adult finding this funny. I have a hard time imagining it appealing to any age group, honestly. It's just not good.
I chucked at it. It has potential. It appeals to me.

Sorry to blow your mind.

I'll throw you a bone. I don't like Star Trek Into Darkness. There. There's a Star Trek that's come out since 2009 that I haven't liked. I'm also lukewarm on the Harry Mudd short that.
I'm lukewarm on Beyond.

You caught me before I edited. I don't think "reactionary" is the right word.

Anyways, you've posted before about "pissing off the right people" and I just think it's just as bad an idea to reflexively go against popular opinion as it is to automatically go with it. Nothing personal.

People have different tastes, I get that, but there are occasions when things are just poorly written or acted. Heck, sometimes you can even enjoy bad stuff in some sort ironic meta way. But sometimes...sometimes...something just plain stinks.

I think the Mudd short was the best thing the All-Access folks have put out to date.

I thought the ending was very good. I do wish they have created an entirely new character for Wilson to play though as I've never cared for Mudd.

You're not who I'm talking about when I say that. I'm talking Midnight's Edge, Doomcock, the people who worship them, and certain other people who I'm not going to name. You're not one of the people I was ever talking about.

Does that mean it stinks to everyone? I mean, I cannot stand the smell of fish, tuna or whatnot, but my wife loves it. Isn't this the same way?

GOOD!

I really hate to explain the obvious things, but if you all insist: the black girl is shown as a brain dead idiot who cannot properly handle dangerous weapons. An idiot who is not even able to admit her mistake. Nothing funny about this.

As a person of colour, I find what you're doing right here pretty damn offensive. I personally found the phaser gag pretty funny, and my mind did not go the same place yours did. Here's some info direct from a person of colour, we mistakes and yeah we can make some brain dead idiot choices. You know just like how people of all colours and persuasions do every day.

I get that it's trendy now to say nonsense like you just did for social media brownie points but really it's just infantilising and dehumanising to people of colour. Check yourself son, we don't need saviours telling us what we should and shouldn't be offended by

One good thing about an animated series is you can have visual nods to previous series and films and present characters from them without requiring the original actors to be present or even alive. You don't have to reconstruct old sets and sew new versions of old uniforms. You can reference everything from World War III and First Contact to DS9 and VOY and not have to worry about the budget nor even if it really fits in with the narrative.

If this series is as goofy as it appears it may well be we could actually have a holodeck reference to ENT that won't suck. :p

It felt more like a trailer for a kids show than one aimed at adults. The comedy was a bit flat, but it might work better when viewed as part of the whole episode. Only a 5 out of 10 for me.
