I'm not a big TNG fan and even I know Maddox and Data had written communication.

It would seem Data & Maddox kept in regular contact since Measure of a Man through letters. We get to hear the content of one of these letters in the episode Data's Day (the one with Keiko & O'Brien's wedding).

That was wonderful. They pulled off a beautiful, exciting, thought-provoking, sensitive finale that I'm proud is part of the Trek universe.

Shameless fist-pump moments (Riker commanding the armada, Seven kicking Narissa's ass) and strong emotional beats...it was just damn fun. They made a fine season, and told a compelling, character based story with a good science-fiction foundation.

I gave most episodes a 7 or 8 this season- very steady. I gave the reunion episode a 9, because it was something special. This gets a 10.... Because they actually pulled it off.

They actually fucking pulled it off.

I'll not be reading this thread. I don't need any of the cynical, pedantic nitpicky crap dragging me down. I'm going to enjoy this moment.

My headcanon for now is the "hey Locutus!" guy is the new leader of the xbs.

And every time Picard runs into them again, he'll be there and say the same damn thing.

Ooops, forgot a point or two.

The second time through, I guess it could be viewed that the Golem was meant for humans only, so that Data was not on option (or the murdered synth).

If Soong could have created a body for her (or Data), I think he would have. Though, how that jibes with Soji/Maddox is tougher. Though I feel Maddox would have saved Data if he could.

Yes, I realize Spiner never would have signed on to play it if Data was saved, but that the attempt was not made, or more explicitly explained away in-universe, bugged me a LOT the first time. Much less so the second.

And, for me, that rights one of the 4 things that bother me most in Star Trek:

    1. Tasha's meaningless death. Thanks to Yesterday's Enterprise that is fixed. Though my hopes for a non-Sela return were later dashed.

    2. Proper send-off/resolution for Data & Picard. STP mends some Nemesis damage.

    3. The Enterprise finale/Trip's death.

    4. Kirk going out in Generations. Though this one was less bothersome for me.

I don't. But I've really only seen it once, original run.

Off topic: really liked the last conversation between Data and P and Data's wishing to be dead. It seems contrived that Soong/Maddox never put his engrams into a new body. If they can do a human into the golem, why not Data? Riker's tough talk seemed silly and over the top. As did the nasty, screamng tentacles? And no one seems to care that there is a master race of synth/tech life extradimensionally waiting to wipe us outl A beacon is a message. They could still open their own gateway.

I've never had any problem with Data or Tashas death. Shit happens. Its dangerous out there.

The death of Tasha was tense and well-done (Music and medical bay scene i mean) and the end scene was fantastic. But yeah, if you can write her back in intelligently (Yesterdays Enterprise) im all for that too.

In fact, I feel the writers missed a real opportunity with the exchange

    "Goodbye Commander"
"Goodbye Captain"....they should have had Data say "Goodbye my friend." As he did in Nemesis. Implying that even though Datas memories end where he copied his engrams to B4....he STILL said "Goodbye my friend" as he did before.

Edit: My biggest problem with the Nemesis death was that Riker couldn't remember what Data was trying to whistle when he met him, but *I* could.

I think the simplest answer is still the one from last episode. When Soong says he hasn't cracked mind transfer, he means any mind, not just an organic mind. They don't know how to move Data into a new body after his attempt to copy himself to B4 failed.

And by the time Jurati figures it out, Picard has died. And then Data doesn't want to come back.

Interesting question is whether the other synths are now immortal. Jurati's work, if replicated, could allow them to live forever. Though the way Picard references it to Soong after the transfer here, replicating it may not be possible (he implies that his living means Soong will now die, which wouldn't be an issue if they could easily make a new golem).

Yes, that is pretty much the most accurate description of Riker ever.

:"Then take your best shot Locutus cause we are about to intervene."

I felt like he was playing it broad so as to not step on Stewarts more nuanced performance.

If season two doesn't start with the following, there ain't no justice.

In a blinding white space, two figures stand.
Data: "Q? Where am I? What is this place?"
Q: "Data (smirks)...you're dead, this is the afterlife...and I'm God."
Data: "I find your assertion dubious at best, Q."

It was a sad episode. Picard is suitably brought back in a Star Trek sci-fi way.

Too bad they didn't get around to making the Enterprise-F model that I assume they were designing. Riker's armada was all the same ship (as was General Oh's armada, but that makes more sense), which is annoying. Almost, but not quite, as annoying as Riker skedaddling at the 40 minute mark. Did you not want to stick around and hang out with your old Captain? Maybe keep a few ships to guarantee the Romulans don't do a u-turn? Per Picard, this is a "first contact" situation, so perhaps an away team can beam down and discuss the Starfleet policies with A.I. Soong and the gang.

Narek was forgotten. Narissa did the Palpatine dive, so she's fine (thanks personal Zhat Vash transporter!). I assume Soong just knocked out Sutra, and she'll be a major protagonist at some point in the future. Otherwise, they really didn't know where to go with her character. Coppelius/Arcadia/Ghulion IV has a bit more drama left for next season to tie up these loose ends. Teaming up Narek and Sutra (and a begrudging Narissa) seems a good bet.

Nice to see that Seven has a new love interest. Not so sure about Rios/Jurati. She's still a cold-blooded sociopath able to fool an android lie detector test. And for someone who's never been to outer space, she sure knows her way around the ship's controls. She should've brought Enoch online.

Of course, we all know that General Worf is the real mastermind behind everything. They're clearly saving this reveal for Season 2.

And the 2009 Film shook things up for him too. It took out of the picture for a while. And the memory of Nemesis haunted him during that entire time.

IF there is a season 2. With the COVID-19 outbreak, season 2 isn't a given, especially at Sir Pat's age.
