New Picard Series and DS9

Given the Borg-Romulan focus PIC is aiming at, I could name two Romulan-themed issues that might get touched upon, however unlikely: if Section 31 gets an appearance, we might hear about their shenanigans related to the Tal Shiar and Chairman Koval; otherwise, a leak of the details of Vreenak's assassination might be also used to complicate Federation-Romulan relations. Otherwise, I don't think there's much that could fit the narrative, even if I'd love to see issues and plots related to a Cardassian reconstruction, the Bajor sector being consolidated into the Federation, and a possible détente with the Dominion.

There is speculation that the Feds become very brutal and force out Vulcan and Earth which causes great upheaval.

I'd expect to see that much more in the 32nd century in Discovery than late 24th/early 25th.

Then again, it would be interesting to see the Federation respond to the Dominion War by becoming more militaristic out of fear, and the Picard show being about trying to reverse that.

I think Fuller's original intention was to bring back earlier elements of ST with Discovery leading the way; obviously we're getting that in a way.

Sisko could be the new Q, and occasionally pull Picard into that place where everything is white, offer him wisdom, and so on.

It’ll be interesting that Data will be back (Brent Spiner has confirmed that he is playing Data on “TVLine”, but not in every episode) but, besides Seven, it’ll interesting to see if any DS9 character’s, besides Worf, crossover. It would be nice to see maybe Jake Sisko make an appearance.

Cirroc isn't even an actor any longer, so I'd put very long odds on seeing him again unless there's an explicit DS9 revival at some point.

Even if Cirroc Lofton didn’t want to appear, they could always recast Jake Sisko And still have Jake Sisko appear.

O'Brien and Bashir would be my main choices from DS9. Kira and Odo too. If Michael Piller was still alive and involved with Star Trek, Quark would be in there too.

Given the Romulan theme, Nana/Kira for definite :). Loved her S7 interactions with them, and of all the DS9 cast she's the one I could best see worked into Picard story arc and tone: perhaps with a new empathy given their disposessed status? Or still as distrustful?

Kira is probably the character that could be most easily slotted in to any new series: she's great at creating alternative viewpoints and raising doubts, she has skills at infiltration that can help move a story along, she showed a broader range of emotions than other female characters, and she has an outlook that allows her to work with Starfleet without sharing its goals and interests.

Plus Visitor is (IMHO) the one main cast actor that can transition easiest given her resume.
A Brooks/Stewart rematch would be EPIC - but we all know that's NEVER going to happen.
Meaney & Siddig could work (both ex-TNG) but where's the heart?
Although thinking about it...Sid, Meaney and Data reunion in S2 could be fun!

Sisko comes back at last, and because he did not experience linear time during his sojourn with the wormhole aliens, he looks exactly like he did in "What You Leave Behind."

If it's addressed at all, would love it if Bajor never joined the UFP, but became a strong, independent power that shared a very strong alliance and friendship with the Fed.

O'Brien would be great to see and they could do that easily (since he retired to Earth.)

I'd be happy to see them visit DS9 during the course of their adventures, even if there are no familiar faces. It'd be hard to imagine anyone still hanging around except possibly for Quark. Or Morn.

If we see Kira, she should be First Minister of Bajor.

Though she never actually set foot in "DS9", a return of Ro Laren would be great.

Was kind of daydreaming about how I'd like to get "back" to DS9, and (not sure if any of the actors are available, retired) I'd love to see Odo's journey back to DS9. HIs point of view, and maybe we don't get back to DS9 until halfway through. Something like that, maybe.
