Ignoring the whole issue of the fact that this entire "Fandom Menace" thing is for clicks and genuinely works within the realm of confirmation bias, I don't know how these people think their sources pass muster. I mean, eventually Star Trek: Discovery will end its run. Eventually, they will stop making Star Wars movies. Eventually, Rian Johnson, Alex Kurtzman, Kathleen Kennedy and Brie Larson will leave the roles that have, according to these morons, ruined their lives.
But what's their endgame? Pissing people off? Trying to make change? Well, if it's the first point, let's consider their audience sizes:
Geeks + Gamers - 168,555 subscribers
Midnight's Edge - 116,931 subscribers
Nerdrotic - 105,904 subscribers
MechaRandom42 - 38,402 subscribers
Overlord DVD (Doomcock) - 35,606 subscribers
Midnight's Edge After Dark - 13,451 subscribers
Even though it is more than likely that there is a ton of overlap between these audiences, at most, there are 478,849 subscribers to these channels. Less than half a million people who are in this Fandom Menace. While the number certainly went down after it went over to CBS All Access, there were 9.5 million viewers to the first episode of Star Trek: Discovery. The Last Jedi sold an estimated 67,594,500 tickets in the U.S. alone. Captain Marvel sold 47,335,700 tickets in the U.S. Adding global box office ticket sales (while that data is unavailable) increases that number drastically. No, its not a good indicator if a film is "good" or not and no its not an indicator if an audience liked a film or not. But its a showing of staying power. The proof in those numbers will be in the sequels. For Star Wars, we'll find out in six months or so. For Captain Marvel, a direct sequel might be a few years off. So, to the second point, its not working.
Look, I'm not saying that people can't have their voices. Go ahead! Make YouTube videos galore about how much you hate something. If that's how you choose to spend your time, that's your business, not mine. But why lie about these things? Why spread these ridiculous rumors that really aren't working? In the end, trusting random rumors off the internet from anonymous sources who say they either work in the industry or have industry contacts, well, it just seems silly to me.
