I do recommend you check out her early work in Hong Kong cinema if you haven't already. My introduction to her was Royal Warriors from 1986.
I will. I didn't know of her until Crouching Tiger, so it seems I have a lot to catch up on.

IMHO, her Hong Kong movies were her best one, she even played a superhero (Invisible Girl) in Heroic Trio. Now that was typecasting:D

Honestly, the time jump just lessens the load of the canon baggage. They can literally setup any storytelling environment that they want. Old races in new power dynamics. New races. Situations that can dramatically change the landscape without causing canon issues. It just allows them to open things up and tell stories they want while being fairly unconstrained.

I have to hardly disagree on that one. Because as @Noname Given so elegantly put it:

Because I hate to break it to you all - But "The Picard Show" is now a prequel that 700 years or so in modern Star trek's past. :rommie::guffaw:

Originally, they had kinda' continuity issue with DIS - but honestly nothing game-breaking. People watched this show after all. And a new show - the Picard show - on the horizon, that would have been completely free of any possible canon issues. Because they could have done there whatever they want.

Instead, they managed to package the entire Trek universe into one, big continuity clusterfuck, where the continuity issues of the 23rd century aren't resolved or anything (the universe shown there - with Pike's Enterprise and all - is still distinctively the DISCO-universe interpretation, no Shatner-Kirk or 60s vfx in sight).

But from now on, every single future Trek production that is not set in the 33rd century will have the same prequel/continuity problems that DIS' first two season had, in that they all must conform to a pre-determined outcome set by another series (DIS), and every single deviation is going to get picked apart from attentively hardcore fans.

Kurtzman is just setting everyone up for Trek being a multiverse. Picard himself doesn't give a shit about the future from his perspective.

Holy pickles, she was in Super Cop 3! I don't know how I missed her!

I presume out of sheer disbelief that was actually written as dialogue? ;)
Sorry, friend, this smitten heart finds no fault with her usage of that phrase. :adore:

I still find it hard to believe all those people are willing to sacrifice everything to go to the future when they don’t have to. I wouldn’t want them to come if I had to go.

We don't know that they don't have to. Was "Leland" the only incarnation of the AI? They seem to imply otherwise.

Well, it happened sometime between "The Cage" and "The Menagerie". "The Cage" is a few years in the past already, so you may be right that there are a couple of years left before that happens.
It happened a few months before The Menagerie as indicated in The Menagerie itself. I think that's 7 or so years in the future relative to when we last see Pike.
