a pitch hitting the umpire in the crotch would be a strike tho. Seen it happen on a 'mix-up' with the catcher thinking it was a pitch-out so he jumped outside the strike zone to get a pitch and the pitcher threw a normal pitch.

Of course some

Would the cord then impede the 100% seal on the bulkhead? But the thing I didn't get. The torpedo going off is enough to destroy the ship(or a huge chunk of the ship), but standing a few feet away behind the door at ground zero is complete ok.

Maybe make your entire ship out of those damn doors then.

A lot of the pitches I've seen hit umpires in the crotch are bounces. And man those are the worst.

Anyone else wonder where and how Section 31 got such a huge fleet of ships when Starfleet was decimated by the war?

I'm sure Starfleet still has hundreds of non-S31 ships around, but when you have an insidious AI running things, lots of options are possible. On the other hand, things were well arranged that the fleet only lost one capital ship in the battle against Control, so that worked out well getting other groups to clean up their mess instead of risking depleting their own fleet again.

They did say in the previous episode that nearly all of their fleet was there which stands to reason there might be at least one ship Control has in hiding as backup.

Retroactively, they also explained why they didn't call in Starfleet for help in the fight: they believe that the nature of Discovery's actions must remain unknown to avoid exposing the knowledge that the ship and the Sphere data still exist. That's smart, really. You can't have the next rogue AI knowing there's some yummy roadmap to pure consciousness out there somewhere.

And hey, if you can get the Klingons and the Kelpians to do your clean up work, bonus!

They didn’t even follow up on what caused the Enterprise to shut down at the start of the season. You’d think they would want to know so it doesn’t happen again.
