Thanks. I prefer the lower one a bit, which I infer is the Beyond version. Was there ever an in-universe reason given? Maybe in the tie-in materials?
Nope. I think we're just supposed to pretend the Beyond version is the ship that rebuilt at the end of Into Darkness, since they share the enlarged impulse engine.

The change was made fairly late in production, and most of the screengraphics on the ship depict the original configuration.

I saw the iconic shots of ol' Connie hundreds of times as a kid. She was the world in which my heroes lived. It was awful when she got blowed up. For a worthy cause.

I searched in toy shops half way around the world far it, and then found a couple in my local toy shop:lol:

Never found the Vengeance, though.

I don't like the enterprise interior from discovery lol too much contrast, so dark...all that red/orange.. it doesn't look realistic for me. How can you work there without damaging your eyesight?
I get the nostalgia but I prefer the ship from the kelvin movies. I think if I were to work there, my eyes would thank the designers.

Btw, I think the one from discovery is a darker, more contrasted and '70s disco music' version of JJ's ship. It gave me that impression.

hot take: rihanna's sledgehammer is an underrated, forgotten addition to the franchise that deserves more love.

despite the uhh unfortunate parallels of the some of the lyrics and anton yelchin's tragic passing.

I liked the song (though it's not exactly her best) but I fail to see how it's an 'addition to the franchise'. It was a pop music video totally unrelated to the movie tossed in purely for marketing value. Like how the Godzilla taco bell commercials, fun as they were (arguably more fun than the movie they were for) are not part of the Godzilla franchise.

I love this song to bits. But did her official video for this also have the Enterprise and bits, I'm assuming this is her actual video of this not just for the movie.

yeah the official music video included the enterprise as well as yorktown, the swarm ships, and visual references to an early version of altamid which was going to consist of smaller plenetoids and varying gravity fields. or something like that.

i love that the video actually has some beautiful shots of the refit enterprise that are not in the film:

but on the whole they are elements taken from the film and repurposed in new scenery:
