The Time Keeper pretty much said, whatever Pike sees in the vision is the price he pays for receiving the time crystal. That future is already set in motion and if it's become a fixed point in time then there is no avoiding it. Also Pike isn't Kirk, he's someone that Kirk reveres and the choice he makes in this episode gives us a good reasoning as to why.

I could see Kirk having deliberately gone there early in his career to find out how he dies .

Could ZORA in the future be the embodiment of the Sphere Data?
Would making it sentient be how they keep control form acquiring it?
(kinda like the battle between Ultron & Vision)

Quoting myself because I had another out-of-left-field thought..

What if ZORA is some sort of the embodiment of Po from planet Xahia?
Po was one with her planet, could that not also describe the relationship between ZORA and the Discovery?

One major fact that all the Borg theories have overlooked.
Tye Borg had no knowledge of the Federation or any involvement in the alpha quadrant until Q sent the Enterprise D into their space.

Which isn't true. They were poking around Romulan and Federation space in "The Neutral Zone" in season one of TNG.

The Neutral Zone said:
WORF: The outpost was not just destroyed, it's as though some great force just scooped it off the face of the planet.

Q Who said:
WORF: It is as though some great force just scooped all the machine elements off the face of the planet.
DATA: It is identical to what happened to the outposts along the Neutral Zone.

Out of interest, did anyone catch a reference to The Legend of Zelda? I didn't, but I'm sure there was a tweet from the director saying they'd put something in there...

Perhaps, I dreamt I'd read that.

I'm still to watch this episode a second time, so maybe I'll see it then.

Perhaps you should just think of them as Chroniton Crystals then?

The funny thing for me is the captions don't suit my state of mind, as I often think as 'This isn't the Trek I'm loyal to" but give it an 8 exactly because of that reason.
It’s not a matter of the lingo. Infinity stones are not science. Time does not work like that.

And in-universe natural mineral deposits like that, the ease of time-travel they represent, would *completely wreak chaos throughout the universe* as everyone and their brother starts going back and forth.

I doubt even the Klingons could keep poachers away once it got out that the time crystals were on Boreth.

The Pike stuff was wrenching. Very Johnny Got His Gun. Does Pike know Morse code?

Oh no... that movie scared me. I couldn't get it out of my head when after I saw it. Best anti-war film ever. Yet it lingers with you... long after you've watched it.

At least poor Pike gets an illusion where Johnny didn't even get a release from his condition.

Last I checked there are no Infinity StonesTM in Star Trek. Sorry, Wrong franchise.

But for references in a Star Trek setting see: The Guardian of Forever and those pesky orbs the wormhole aliens keep sending to Bajor.

FYI, time is just one of hundreds of concepts/science.tech that "doesn't work like that" when it comes to Star Trek.
