I'm gonna make a prediction...
Nora is CONTROL and somehow Pike and the Crew managed to trap it on Discovery and send it to the future.
I'm probably waay off base again, but it seems logical to me.

But with that "two lightyears" comment re: Talos and SB 11, Star Charts/Stellar Cartography needs more revision.
(That distance citation does make sense in light of "The Menagerie" and its shuttle-chasing-Enterprise aspects, though.)
I'm not surprised they handled it as well as they did. This is actually the first show since the original that appears to treat the era with any sort of respect (DS9's treatment of the original was a bit to fannish for me to take seriously).
Isn't that what they call building a theme?I find it continuing to be fascinating how Pike is just as a 'Context is King' as even Mirror Lorca was. One minute he's giving his newly cheekily snarky first officer a dressing down and telling him to 'go by the book' in future and by the end of the ep he's disobeying a direct order. Are we sure this isn't Mirror Pike.
The thing I appreciated was that they expanded on it, rather than just duplicating The Cage story. It didn't feel like fan service (Like a lot of the 4th season of Enterprise felt like, for example). It felt like a Discovery episode using canon as a basis. That's a very good thing.
I love the recreation of Talos IV, from the ambiance to the landscape to the clothing. Everything. They made it look and feel both '60s and modern at the same time. They really went the extra mile with this one.
Wow, that was great. Fantastic even. The episode had me engrossed the whole way through. In a lot of ways it felt like Season 2 till this point was basically a prologue, and this was the start of the "real story."
I'm going with nine out of ten though, not a perfect score. I don't give out 10s very frequently, There were a handful - only a handful - of nits I can pick with the episode. I still feel like Ash feels kinda awkwardly shoved into this season, though it was better seeing him getting his ass kicked by Culber than spouting crap about how he believed in Section 31. And the "horrible revelation" of Burnham seemed kinda underwheming. I mean, I know words hurt, and Spock was a little kid, but I've heard my own kids say worse things than that to each other, and then play happily with one another the next day.

Wow. This ep took huge, huge risks... they went for the very starting premise of Star Trek itself...

This is my first 10 of the season. All my quibbles are minor. Favorite ep of Season 2, and up there with "Magic" and "Despite Yourself" as my very favorite so far in the series... wait, who am I kidding? Mid-Season 1 didn't have zero Klingons, all my Disco faves, and Pike, Vina, and Spock.
Up until this episode, I've been rolling my eyes over the idea of a Pike's Enterprise series. But if they manage to keep this up, I'll be persuaded. In fact, I'll insist upon it! Send me the petition.
That's the only thing that's getting to me about the Spock, Michael, and Sarek-Grayson family storylines. I want my Vulcan much more desert-y, and the rain and foliage takes me out of these eps a bit. But alas, as we know, DSC films in Toronto. I'm from the US/Canadian border myself. There's no desert within thousands of miles, and I'm not sure they can CGI things away when filming on location.
It's the one drawback of not filming in California like the other series did. Still, I wish they wouldn't lean into having trees and rain on Vulcan, since we know so much about the planet. But episodes like this one, "Lethe," and "Brother" make me willing to forgive the inconsistency.

First, major props to the actress playing Vina. She really captured Susan Oliver's tone and cadence without veering into impression territory. Second, the scenes with Vina and Pike truly felt like watching a lost TOS-era "Cage" sequel. Amazing work from the DISCO team. They should be proud of this one.

You might be right. I looked at the updated ones a week ago but I swear it was alpha.

Its not about the meanness its about the lesson taken. I'm sure my elder sister isn't aware of the lessons about her that she's given me through her actions that may not have seemed mean to her at the time.

Melissa George has been a very good actress for as long as I've been watching her perform..
I've actually been pretty strongly opposed to the idea.
I want one now. And I have to suspect someone at CBS sat a little straighter in their chair tonight and started texting frantically.
Time to give John Slattery and Molly Quinn a call.
