Well, what Burnham did to Spock was terrible. I see her distorted rationale but I won't look at the character the same way ever again.
I agree on the first point. I found that scene to be heartwrenching. And while it does change my opinion of her, it really makes me like her more as a character. I like it when good people do shitty things for what they believe to be the right (but ultimately wrong) reasons. To me, that's the core of great character development. It's Xander telling Buffy to kill Angel.

Also, Mary Sues don't tell the most popular character in the franchise to fuck off. Just throwing that out there.

Oh, don't think for a minute I'm joining the other camp. No way. In fact, this only strengthens my argument -- our argument -- that she's not a Mary Sue.

For me, it's very different. It's something else entirely. This is like when I was pissed off at Lorca last year when I realized he had a thing for Burnham even though he was her step-father in the Mirror Universe.

Not happy with Burnham saying all those horrible things to Spock at all. Amanda, if she finds out, will kick her out of the family for sure. Sarek will still talk to her, but Amanda will be pissed at him for doing it.

Waiting until this point in the series to address why Spock never talks about Burnham was the right move.

I'm fine with her saying them since she didn't mean it.

The two things that annoyed me about this episode were the lighting (too many damned lens flares) and the camera angles. It felt very strange on Discovery at times.

Other than that: Vina, singing plants, pulsating heads, that recap, two great storylines with Spock/Burnham and Stamets/Culber. (I could, as always, do without the Tyler/S31 plots), but still very solid. 9/10.

It's amazing, because I've enjoyed the show through the entire run....but this was on a different level. And it was completely unexpected.

I'm still blown completely away. I don't even know where or how to begin.
I know exactly what you mean. This is why I hate giving high scores on a whim. I've been so emotionally supportive of the season so far, giving a ten and two nines already. But now in hindsight, they just don't feel like they deserve it.
