VFX in season 2 (and short treks)

Yeah, ultimately they have to deal with the fact that there's just the one set and the corridor only curves one way. Same thing with the quarters we've seen - while the guest quarters from the end of Season 1 (and Shenzhou captain quarters) have the door on the opposite side of the windows, the others we've seen all have them on the perpendicular wall. This leaves people walking past out into space. Maybe the best option there is that some quarters just have fake windows.
They built a corridor extension for this season

That's the stuff. Great lighting/compositing.

Those windows are fake in-universe: there's no space behind them, just a black plate. The ship is full of such fake windows. Sickbay, say.

Of course, some of the quarters could have real windows there, and the corridors past the doors would then go into the four spokes that connect the rings of the primary hull. But there's no in-show need for that as such.

The walks with "continuous" dialogue basically never measure up anyway. We could and should insert a couple of unseen deck changes in there, thus allowing for any number of turns.

I think this season looks pretty good. Last season was hit or miss, but I think it's really come together.

I still would like to see some different types of space shots, and the ship CGI still looks a little cheap at times, but overall it's probably one of the most lush looking productions ever put on television (do we still call it television?), if not the most.

Anyone notice the saucer missing out the bridge window from a couple episodes ago? It should be entirely visible from this vantage point, possibly even blocking any view of space. I'm guessing this is the reason they left it out, would've been confusing to look at and doesn't look as nice as stars. Also they are preparing for a CTP test, so maybe that's a holographic image of space and not an actual view out the window.

I've also noticed that they've completely redone all the computer screen graphics on the bridge.

Lot's of nice deck plans and new graphics of the ship, for sure!
I just read in the Official Magazine # 70 that they've decided on 18 decks, counting the bridge. An interview/tour of the standing sets with art director Jody Clement...

Awesome! Good to know. Know of any online version anywhere?

Dat Ba'ul goo simulation, though. For a CG character the Ba'ul felt very otherworldly, yet very real at the same time. Fantastic animation/rendering.
It looked so fantastic. Loved it. I thought for sure James Spader was the voice, but the credits say it was someone else. He sounded so similar haha.
