The Hair Club for Klingons do good work.
Maybe their skulls are where they get pregnant?
If so I think I saw some pregnant Klingon men this episode.
I blame collagen implants. Stupid Klingon plastic surgeons. You were supposed to restore cranial ridges, guys. You had one job.
Mary Chieffo said in The Ready Room that they still put on the full season 1 "cowl" and then on top of that a separate wig that is sewn on to keep it in place. So the big head is supposedly still there under all that hair.
You joke, but that is exactly what Emperor Georgiou did.
How did T'Kuvma... And all the other houses that were called in, feign their peaceful stance, and their shock at being drawn into an unwanted war with the evil Federation IF THE KLINGONS HAD ALREADY CUT THEIR HAIR BEFORE THE FIRST SHOT WAS FIRED?
They were all at war with each other. I guess you could hand-wave it away as everyone already had shaved heads because there was a civil war going on
It's called bad writing and a clumsy in-series retcon. Bryan Fuller's idea wasn't very good and now the producers are attempting damage control.
That's an odd claim. We can see the new sculpt with our own eyes. And not just the facial appliance, the ears have changed too.
The war excuse doesn't stand up to much scrutiny. Every single Klingon in season one is bald, including flashbacks and alternate universes.

Just like how we don't need to speak of how Worf's head seemed to completely change between seasons of TNG.

I would like to put forth the suggestion that she was carrying her and Voq's child on the back of her skull.

Not sure about that myself, but that's what she said. I suppose by cowl she meant the back piece that does not include the forehead and face pieces.
I have to admit, when I first heard that Brian Fuller was going to be the showrunner of Discovery, I was ecstatic. I am now retroactively equally ecstatic that he didn't last.

It's all rather amusing to me
I just watched it now, and as Nerys Myk mentioned, she doesn't say that it's a season 1 cowl. She just says that she still wears a cowl under the hair.
