Klingorcs
Just call them Klingons, that is what they are.

Jamaican Tilly. Possibly the worst guest 'actor' I've ever seen on Trek... yikes.
She seemed fine to me

This episode presented an opportunity to give the navigator some focus and developmen
She did figure out how to get them out of that basement.

They all seem like very limited actors,
There's no proof of that.

I’ve always been a fan more of General Order 24 than General Order 1. I really want to see that order in affect one day. The Jack Bauer Order I like to think. :)

During the first season, I was totally okay with the background crew basically staying in the background like Ensign Gates. I get it was unusual to have background characters with such elaborate makeup on the bridge and not use them, but I figured that was just DISCO pulling all the stops with budget compared to previous shows, although DS9 had a nice plethora of alien extras.

No complaints that the writers are addressing that one concern by fans by giving the extras more to do.

Nah. Klingorcs, more appropriate.

 Well there are some SW fans out there who are fine with Jar Jar. Tilly, and Tilly 2.0 aren't so far off. Their "you're the greatest" "no, you're the smartest" exchanges were so special.

lol. Pike was indeed correct, set your expectations low.

Nah.

I don't think he meant anything near as low as you are willing to go.
:p

This episode really cemented my full turn around on Saru. I disliked the character, while recognizing Doug Jones' excellent acting, because of his continuing to attack Burnham about Capt. Georgiou's death, when the captain's well being was actually his responsibility. I started to come around at the end of last season and now I full on love the character. His interaction with Tilly was absolutely great.

I'm sure it's been mentioned somewhere in this thread, but Tilly's hallucination of May might have to do with the little bit of the spore network that landed on her shoulder last season. Perhaps she is seeing dead people like Stammets.

I chuckled when I saw Pike with the away team. That is such a goofy Trek tradition. It was another stellar performance by Anson Mount. Good to see "Owo" get some run, off the bridge. When they said she had been part of a Luddite group, I thought that would also mean she was a believer, but no.

Agree with all re: the actor who played Jacob. He was very good. I was surprised they didn't take him with them but they left him with a nice little gift. No doubt that power supply will likely last a few generations, especially with New Eden's meager demands on it.

That the Prime Directive is probably Starfleet's most difficult order, is understandable. I really loved that Burnham was able to talk Pike into going back to New Eden to ease Jacob's mind and give him some peace while also retrieving the video.

Yes, this was a "traditional" Trek episode, but quite enjoyable. I give it an 8.

Tilly is awesome, and anyone who says otherwise needs to have their heart ripped out just so they could see how black it is before they die.

This episode was great. Beautiful looking episode and felt very much like Star Trek with moral dilemmas and all. I enjoyed this episode more than last weeks.

Ah, Al Bundy. A character that wouldn’t be allowed on tv in these sensitive times.

Tilly is fine but she does seem to have a lot of screen time for low ranking crew member. She isn’t even bridge crew.
I know she is a main character but her doing those actions without consent of the chief engineer (whoever he/she is) is enough for her to get into some serious trouble.

(2.02) “New Eden” was basically "Trek 101" schtick. Boring shit. This is what "Discovery" has devolved into for Season 2. This arc about the "red angel" and the lights better result in something original and interesting or else, I’ll give up this season and hope that Season 3 will be more interesting.
