so far so good. love season 5!
Ugghh....they are doing all of Batman's stories...and then some.
This thing with Gotham...so totally feels like Dark Knight Returns...why would anyone move back to Gotham after all that???
Selina getting special powers -- yuck. I liked it when she was a "normal" person who was just very smart and gymnastics-level agile. The powers seem like overkill... though fittign that Ivy would help save Selina's life , presumably in gratitude.
Seeing Edward & Lucius working together as partner CSI's....makes me so sad that they made him have a dual personality. I thought it would have been much more creative to have him be a CSI who got so egotisitcal -- knowing what police would look for, and then be able to misdirect thru insider knowledge... that would have been a much better way to make him a criminal....
i also still mourn the fact that basically ALL of Batman's villains are murderers....

I will say that I got kind of a sinking feeling when I saw Selina's eyes turn cat-like for a moment at the end of the second episode. I don't know why Catwoman just being a skilled, but normal human isn't enough for some live action adaptations. Besides the Halle Berry movie, there was also that short-lived Birds of Prey series that stated that she was a metahuman. Selina Kyle doesn't need literal cat powers any more than Bruce Wayne needs superhuman abilities. Though I really enjoy characters like Oswald and Edward, I'm admittedly also not crazy with the way that they turned all of Batman's rogues into psychotic killers.
A friend got me to start binging Gotham just last year (I finished season 4 like an hour and a half before the premiere of season 5). He and I are so different, even the DC shows we watch aren't the same: I was into all the Arrowverse stuff (before keeping caught up with all those shows became too exhausting), while he's been more into Lucifer, Constantine and Gotham.
When I watch reboots/prequels, I often make the mistake of thinking that they're going to sync up with story that we all know, and then I feel somewhat disappointed when they diverge more drastically from the established canon than expected. This has happened, for example, with Bates Motel, the Nolan Batman movies, the 09 Star Trek film, etc. I didn't like that Smallville had Clark Kent fight and defeat basically all his major enemies before even becoming Superman. Now Gotham is sort of doing the same thing, but it doesn't bother me as much, maybe partly because this show is only going to be half as long as Smallville, so it requires less of a commitment on the part of the viewers. Also, I've mostly managed to just let go of my preconceived expectations and appreciate the show for what it is: a really goofy Batman origin story.
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Selina with superpowers either, but at least they don't seem to be going overboard so far.
I didn't expect Ed to be the one who blew up Haven, I figured it was going to be Jerome.
I'm a huge Harley fan, and so far I'm really liking their Harley/Echo. It cracked me up when she called Selina puddin' last week. I wonder how long it will be before we get a Mr. J?
I'm curious what's going to happen with Jerome,the trailers have shown him, or at least who looks like him in scenes we have't seen yet.
So is Barbara and Gordon's hook up going to be what leads to the other Barbara/future Batgirl?

This season is not good. 4 episodes in and it's the same repetitive stuff from seasons past. I thought they'd pull their socks up since there's only 12 episodes but no. Riddler still having an identity crisis, Penguin switching sides on a weekly basis, Barbara and Jim again, Jim making crap speeches, blah. Season 4 was trash too.
It is annoying with Penguin switching sides when we've seen a flash forward showing him working along side Gordon. The last two episodes feel like filler especially with there being only 12 episodes in this season.
I'm thinking that Barbara gets pregnant and dies during childbirth. Ad Jim names their daughter Barbara.

Why does she need to die? Even though both characters have been through hell together and apart, she and Jim finally get married as foreshadowed in the first episode of Season 1.

Is it just me or is this season the biggest pile of crap so far? Season 4 was bad but Season 5, which should be firing on all cylinders since it's the last one, is hobbling about like a dying animal desperately in need to be put out of its misery.

I hadn't heard about Morena Baccarin coming back, so I was really surprised when Lee popped back up.
Magpie was pretty good, although the only other version I've seen was in Beware the Batman, so I'm not sure how far off she was from the comics.
Loved the fake bomb at GCPD, and Ed's reaction when Harvey actually figured out his Riddle was great.
It looks like I was right and the Barbara hookup will give us Barbara Gordon.
Looking forward to the big Jerome/Bruce at Ace Chemicals scene next week. It will be interesting to see how they handle that big iconic moment.

The season isn't over yet and they've already announced the date for the blu-ray and DVD releases of the finale season and the complete series: June 11
Just FYI the article reveals the titles for the final episodes of the show so if you consider those spoilers don't read it.
The last episode should be called "I'm Batman!"...wonder if that will be the last line on the show. If so, it will end VERY WELL
