USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

What does that have to do with this discussion? We're talking within Discovery, not outside of it.

The Klingon ships in Discovery are part of the Discovery series aesthetic. They are vastly different than what we have seen before in Trek. I am saying that TPTB could just as easily decide to make the Enterprise vastly different down the line, if they choose to do so, to be more in keeping with the overall series aesthetic. People have already noted that even though the Enterprise is altered from TOS, it still doesn't really fit the overall series aesthetic.

The Oberth didn't match any other Starfleet ship of its era, the Defiant didn't match any other Starfleet ship of its era.

Star Trek has always had ships that don't follow the general lines of the ones around it.

The Klingon ships in Discovery are a much more radical departure than those examples.

But they're consistent within Discovery itself. That is what I'm getting at.

If people are going to nitpick Discovery for having an odd ship out, pick on the other series/movies as well, don't just single it out.

Stop looking at the outside shows for a minute.

The concern is that outside shows ARE coming. Picard reboot/reunion/TNG/whatever thingy. Starfleet Academy, maybe. Worf thing maybe.
STD cannot afford to live in it's own shell any longer. And people are right to be concerned.
What if Picard spin-off is a sequel to TNG but their retcon all TNG ships to match STD visuals? There will be HEEELLL to pay within Trek Fandom.
And how would Worf show work exactly? Is he going to be in TNG Klingon makeup? Or is Worf as we known him for 20 years will all of a sudden become like whatever these things that pass for Klingons are on STD?

Why would they retcon ships if it is a sequel? Are they doing flashbacks? If it is a sequel, going in to the future, the general consensus I've read around here is that Discovery style ships make sense in a future Starfleet. This seems to be hyperbolic for the sake of making a point that no one is arguing for.

I really hate this Enterprise design. Such a shame.

I kind of like it but... now that I've seen pictures of this detailed and accurate model I have to say... there's just something about its proportions and details that rob it from what the original and refit had in terms of elegance and iconic status. Maybe it's just the shortness of the neck, or the relative unoriginality... or maybe the parts don't fit together in a way that tells a coherent story. I don't know. It's an adequate update and yet... there's just something bland about it.

Not yet, not yet.

After seeing this for the first time a few minutes ago, I'm wondering if TPTB have something like this in mind for future remastering of TOS, to fit in with Discovery.

I will say that it's quite amazing:

Wow, it's astonishing what we can do with CGI nowadays. But I'd rather someone use the TUC bridge instead. And the uniforms, while they're at it.

That being said I'm not in favour of updating TOS, other than just remastering it. I have the DVDs at home but if I buy the Blu-Rays I'd watch the original versions exclusively.

If the current trend continues, something like this is not an unrealistic answer to that question:

That reminds me of some of the artwork from the Best of Trek paperback covers.

It's interesting, in its own way....

Please, no. Koerner's design is striking and iconic in its own way, but it's way too detailed, dark and stark to be the enterprise. It has none of the smooth elegance of either versions of 1701.

Now, if one were to make a more militaristic reboot of Trek, I could see his design being used, with some modifications of course.

Just like real life. The Federation's ships are remarkably similar in form, compared to real-world stuff.
