Development hell, that's a bad place for movies. That's a shame.

Oh my goodness every time I rewatch Beyond I get chills. I think they captured the spirit of how someone could lose themselves out there in deep space perfectly. Kirk is tempted by it, and Edison took the bait hook line and sinker. Just a great movie. I can’t wait for #4

Well as @King Daniel Beyond said the movie has been held up in "evelopment hell" so no one really knows if a 4th movie will happen. It's a bloody shame.

Two new movies were confirmed, with a director for the 4th chosen. How is that development hell?

I still remember that moment (more than two years ago from now) feel absolutely stunning at the moment that the big E enters to the Yorktown station. I watch this on 3D.

I watched for first time this movie with my dad and my girlfriend, one on side each of me... and I was ... out of this world.
I still watch the movie (now, years after) and fell happiness, and sadness for the fate of the ship ....and for one of the great moments that I'll never forget on my life.
Reunited with the people I love and Star Trek.
    Two beautiful hours.

I also like the movie but didn't feel anything when the Enterprise was getting destroyed because she looked different again.
I mean she has 3 or 4 upgrades in 3 movies.
I felt bad when the first Enterprise and the Enterprise-D were getting destroyed because I had the feeling I knew those ships.

I felt bad because the characters felt bad. The look on Kirk's face in the pod as the Enterprise went down was so evocative that I couldn't help but feel with him.

I didn't react to the ENT-D because it was played for laughs, with Data's line, and Picard's almost non-reaction to walking through the debris, kicking over his chair and artifacts because they're just "material possessions." I had more emotional reaction "All Good Things" when the ENT-D of the future drove in to the anomaly than in that film. Again, because of how the characters were reacting.

Same thing with the original Enterprise. Kirk's reaction drives my mood. "My God, Bones. What have I done?" Perfectly cements the reaction.

Yeah Picard's reaction to things in Generations really rankles me.

The Ent-D was definitely done a disservice in Generations. Not how a hero ship of 7 seasons and so many adventures should have went out. A Nero "FIRE EVERYTHING!" would have ended that old Bird of Prey in two seconds.

As for the Abramsprise, it grew on me over the years, but never to the point where I truly cared about it. Mostly because, as was said, they kept changing it. I preferred the 09 Trek version the best and the Beyond version least. They never got the warp nacelles quite right.

As a casual observer I never noticed it changed. Why would they do that?

    Maybe just a cosmetic change.

Why not? Why did they change uniforms all the time? Starfleet has nothing but time on its hands to redesign everything.

I believe i have read that they made the warp struts thinner so Krall and his men could destroy it easier.

They made the neck and nacelle pylons thinner to better reflect the original series version of the ship. Justin Lin always thought they were weak spots on the original and wanted to use that, but JJ Abrams had inconventiently had them somewhat reinforced over the original in his 2009 version of the ship.

It needed mag wheels and a spoiler (2nd version at the bottom) hehe.. Then they can land the ship properly and drag race.. Come on down Vin Diesel

Thanks. I prefer the lower one a bit, which I infer is the Beyond version. Was there ever an in-universe reason given? Maybe in the tie-in materials?

It's definitely true. The way the characters react matters. The Next Generation characters do the same thing in the next movie too, when Picard sets the self destruct on the Enterprise-E and everyone just shrugs and is like, "Oh well, there are plenty more letters in the alphabet", as if the Enterprise being destroyed is just 'meh'. The reaction of both Kirk's to seeing their "lady" being destroyed have emotional weight, because the characters themselves care about the loss of ship.
