Random speculations thread!

Apologies if this has been mentioned already, I'm on my lunch break and don't have time to read entire thread.

I think Lorca's override was intended to to take the ship back in time, possibly to save the Buran. Previously Discovery had been making spatial jumps not temporal ones so he was genuinely surprised when Discovery ended up in what's known as the Mirror Universe. I think the remaining episodes of season 1 will be MU episodes.

Are you certain thats black?

I've seen this image posted a few times - nd it seems odd that for all the people snapping every uniform for costuming reasons, we only have a close up of a black uniform.

Aside from that, it does look a bit blue to me. I've got hold of the fabric (well, a different brand - but same type) and how this looks on my monitor is exactly how it looks in my storage room under natural light.
I guess it's possible it's a weird lighting happenstance.

I guess we'll find out for sure soon enough.

You want random speculation, huh? Well here is something very random and highly speculative :p...

What if Nicholas Meyer's secret Star Trek project was to develop a series that followed the exploits of Captain Sylvia Tilly in post-TOS era (say 25 to 30 years after the DSC time frame)?

Of course they would need to find the right actress to play "Older Tilly", but it could be interesting to see what type of Captain the younger version we see now might develop into.

No? :shifty:

The actress is actually in her mid-30's presumably playing early late teens/early 20's. No need to recast.

Here are some wild fan theories about Discovery.

1. Could L.T Stamets be an Esper?
2. Is the Mycelium Network connected to the Galactic Barrier?
3. Will Stamets eventually turn into the Traveller from TNG?

1. I think it wouldn't be unfeasible if it turns out that his experiences have given him some kind of telepathic sense.

2. Maybe

3. No.

Kor

I'm thinking probably not. I'd guess he has more in common with Professor Mannheim right now (TNG "We'll Always Have Paris") than Gary Mitchell or Dr. Dehner.

I like Stamets. I hope he isn't an Esper. He already has the arrogance that, if multiplied by an exponential amount, could turn him into a worse "God" than Gary Mitchell.

He'd have to be killed.

Err.. ESPer sounds quite apt. But Psionicist will the best way to term it as the next level beyond ESPer. Stamets was aparently gifted with psionic powers. The way the "shroom" :O) drive was used through Stamets is epic feat of psyhoportive power of teleportation - of a *smeep* material object and its inhabitants in multiples times with absolute pinpoint precision that (I knew) it would eventually cause his death.

Those tubers just are not aware there is another catchy way to elucidate what Stamets is capable of when "fused" with Myconics.

Ah. I was thinking of Final Fantasy VI. :)

So was I. :D

Oh, I forgot.. When the last "jump" went haywire, that's called a Dimensional Door - as Lilly puts it a "Portal" created on one massive epic scale.

Stamets has acted nothing like Gary Mitchell or the female psychologist whom I forget the name of. Both of them had a high ESP quotient before they got transformed by an alien entity. They had telekinesis and other unusual powers when enhanced.

Stamets seems to be jumping dimensions and dealing with information overload due to his new role as interstellar and inter-universe navigator because of the altering of his DNA.

Also, the eye effects are not even the same, I don't get how people even see a connection. Gary has shiny mercury like eyes. Stamets has milky eyes which glaze over when he's interacting with the mycelial network. When he's lucid, his eyes are clear.

Gary become a megalomaniac, drunk on his new found powers, even the female doctor felt the lure of that. Stamets has never shown any ESP affinity before he took the risky step of injecting the Tardigrade DNA. Nor does he exhibit godlike powers which may make him dangerous due to hubris. Right now, he seems out of control. Lost. With a distinct lack of cognition as to what is happening to himself or what he is capable of. Nothing like Mitchell who embraced the changes and abused them.

Not seeing the similarities beside OMG freaky eyes!

If the Spore Drive functions on spores located across the entire galaxy let alone Universe, then those spores might be possibly located inside black holes. Could it be possible to Spore Drive into a black hole?

Would about using the Spore Drive too much? Could it upset the balance of the spore network in space?

Are there species that live inside of Spore Space that could be hostile to the Federation let alone the entire galaxy if they find a way into non-spore space?
