My wife was saying what a geek I am because of how giddy I was throughout this episode. Favourite episode so far. I always loved the mirror universe as anyone can tell from my avatar. Glad to see this will be the arc for a few episodes at least.

Again, at least as long as they're in the Mirror Universe, he's created a neat alibi when he told Burnam to basically ignore anything he does in the Mirror Universe!
The murder could be attributed to the conditioning either way. And it would create negative feelings between Stamets and Tyler once he's "cured" which is good drama for future eps.

I think it’s safe to assume that the Lorca we’re seeing if from this universe. Obviously he wasn’t evil enough to live there and so he jumped.
Probably has a ulterior motive. Likely it’s just revenge.

Just watched the episode. It had a big call out to TNG "Parallels" and ENT "In the mirror, darkly". So apparently different quantum realities is the same thing as parallel universes, I wondered about that. The Ash=Vok theory seems confirmed. The uniforms in the mirror universe look different than what we saw in TOS "Mirror, Mirror". Surprised they killed off the Doctor.

Holy Shit! I honestly thought if they detoured this series into the Mirror Universe; it would spoil the story (since they have limited episodes) and just be a lame ratings grab...

BOY - WAS I WRONG.

I loved this episode. I also hope we have at least two more in the MU too. This was executed extremely well on all fronts both story wise and production wise IMO. I am also surprised Marketing didn't have them do the 7 week break with this episode as the cliffhanger because this would have had EVERYONE talking about it.

It took something like this to pull out the stops in a good way:

Yes, Tyler is Voq (and many including myself had thought); but to expose it now was great. And again, holy ship, Tyler snapping the neck of Dr. Culber made perfect sense for the situation, and was really surprising and shocking, but it worked really well. This is probably one of the best episodes they've done for the series to date - and I was pleasantly surprised by that.

Oh, and I LOVED the Turbolift fight sequence between Burnham and her former tactical officer - and her reaction in the Turbo-lift after - probably brought on because she had to kill him, and this was the second time she saw him die.

I hope we have more than one episode remaining in this Mirror Universe here.

(And no, IMO - there is NO WAY you could have done this type of story using the 24th/25th century Star Trek setting - and there's no way 24th century characters (with all their PC and pacifist/evolved sensibilities could have pulled off truly masquerading as 'Terran Empire' denizens.)
