I can even think of a reason the writers might do that - they might actually like to use an Andorian, but every time it comes up the writing room gets in a massive argument about the 4 gender thing. :D

Maybe there's just something in T'Kuvma's ancestory/bloodline he doesn't like to talk about much... ;)

Don't worry, Memory Beta has enough details for them to make a *very* graphic episode based on it to end that argument forever.

The bald burly prisoner was on Hawaii 5-0 the same week playing...wait for it....an escaped prisoner.

"Andorians are a founding member of the Federation. Why do you hate them so much?"
"A hundred years ago one of them kidnapped and tried to seduce my great-grandmother."
"But...I'm familiar with your family history. Your great-grandmother died 120 years ago."
    "EXACTLY."

Yes! This MUST be so, now that you have suggested it...there's no other acceptable outcome.

I totally agree. There is no way someone like that would be on a ship doing state of the art research.

That's a good guess. I had no idea what it was at first but the more I think about it a Targ might be right.

Thoughtful review, thanks for posting. I disagree about the ship, I think Discovery is beautiful.

Really. If a nervous, jittery and socially awkward guy like Reginald Barclay could serve on the engineering staff of the flagship of the Federation then why would Tilly be disqualified? She's awkward, not a danger to her shipmates.

    Context is for Kings nitpicks
    Site to site transport.
Contradiction with The Day of the Dove? Possibly. Or maybe Lorca is willing to take the risk. (And Georgiou and Burnham took similar risks on the Shenzhou, given that Burnham doesn't seem surprised.)

    Tribble
Lorca has some means to stop it getting into the fortune cookies. (And had figured out by trial and error how much a Tribble could eat before it reproduces)

    Spore Drive
As noted in the review, it fails in some way. After the war, Starfleet assumes it not worth the risk of what occurred on the Glenn happening again. (Over eleven decades later, Janeway hasn't got the clearance to know about it, and the Borg hadn't assimilated anyone who does, so Seven doesn't know either. Maybe. Or Voyager tried and found it similar to what really happened in Threshold.)

    Discovery as a new ship?
A bit difficult to tell the difference between a new ship and one that had been recently refitted.

Realistically, what's more important, the cookie or the fortune?

    1. Lorca writes the fortunes which are random "ancient wisdom".

    2. Lorca writes the fortunes which are "ironic clues" or threats to his crew.

    3. The computer writes the fortunes which are random "ancient wisdom".

    4. The computer writes tailor-made fortunes, for the crew of the Discovery for "reasons".

    5. Any unknown factor, possibly a prisoner of Lorca's, or out right the bad guy, is writing fortunes to stage an escape or to undermine the crew before destroying them.

    6. All of Lorca's fortune cookies carry inside them, the same fortune, and it is a frightening message to one person that only makes sense at a specific dangerous
    moment.

    7. The fortunes only make sense, as a clue or a warning, after you jigsaw several of them together.

    8. If the fortune cookies are not in English, they may be a clue or a warning for a specific alien that we have not met yet.

    9. All the Fortunes are the same, and one will be present and read before the big bad to undermine their masterplan, because Lorca has out gamed the enemy.

    10. The fortune cookies are messages from the past/future to Lorca.
