What games are you playing currently?

I've been playing some more MK X, and its still fun. The three variations per character do play fairly differently, which is cool (it even changes up combos, which messed me up when I tried a version of Sub Zero that was different then the main one I had been trying). I did one of the changing ladders (this one based on MK II) and then beat arcade mode both with Cryomancer Sub Zero. SZ is my favorite MK character, and after a bit of time getting used to him I had a good deal of fun. The arcade mode main boss is better then the MK9 one in my opinion. With Shao Kahn I always felt like I had to just exploit certain things about him until I won/ With Shinnok, it felt more like a normal fight, but in a good way. In fighting games I'm a purely vs AI player, which is good because I did a test online match and got killed immediately  I got a SZ skin for beating arcade mode and coins for the Krypt, its cool that the game has stuff to unlock along side DLC (the DLC mostly not being an issue because Mortal Kombat XL has all of the DLC except one or two skins).

I have No Man's Sky updating right now. I found that if you put the disc in and start the update, you can remove the disc and still download the patch stuff, so that's what I've been doing so I can play some MK X (I just have to put the disc back in to install the patch).

I'm back playing Stellaris, and sinking quite a lot of hours into it indeed. Really great stuff.

I just got Arkham Knight in a Steam special, so will fire that up in the next day or so.

Will be getting Sonic Mania the minute it's released. I'm also potentially interested in Agents of Mayhem, but we'll see :)

Arkham Knight on the PC? good luck with that :p

I presumed it's actually workable compared to the first few months of it's existence.

Well, I've only played one of the DLC's for it (Planning on finishing City first and maybe Origins) and that seemed ok, but yeah, I heard it had major issues when released and that some are still having those issues:(

I got Witcher 3 all updated yesterday (took over 12 hours, good thing PS4 can DL in the background). Since No Man's Sky isn't really very fun, I'll probably drop it and try out Witcher (while still playing MK X).

Speaking of Mortal Kombat X, I started the story mode and its pretty fun. The story is interesting so far (one chapter in) and the cutscenes are very good. I was having a bit of problems playing Johnny Cage (the character for the first chapter). I never felt like I really got the hang of him for some reason. Still, I'm having fun with story mode and playing Tower (aka Arcade) mode with different characters.

Oh man, the Witcher 3 is incredible. You're in for a real treat. Take your time with it, and remember to stop and admire the scenery - it's second only to the quality of the writing. It's the first game I've played where the writing isn't good '...for a game,' it's just plain good :adore:

I'm not too excited for the combat (it seems really difficult and overly complicated, and from what I've read not very friendly to people who prefer to play as magic users like I do), but story wise it will be interesting to see what I think of it, since a lot of people praise the game. My expectations are fairly low honestly, a moderately interesting story and world and combat that, if not good, is at least playable and not too much of a burden is all I really want. I'm not a fan of its very porn-ish content either, but I've read that as long as I avoid doing any of the "romance" quests it doesn't get all that bad, so I'll just make sure to avoid any non-main quest stuff with any love interests.

Hmm, interesting. I'm not discounting what you've read, but my experience was completely different. The combat is simple - maybe too simple. Light, light, heavy - and occasionally a bit of light magic.

I've not experienced too much in the way or pornish content. The opening seen with Geralt with his legs in the air whilst in the bath was about as much as I saw, from memory. Also, the guy is just too damn likeable - he deserves a bit of the jiggy jig given the stressful and underappreciated nature of his work :)

I played for about an hour. Its ok so far, although you level about as fast as a snail travels and even a two level difference makes a battle literally impossible (and there are no level one monsters I've seen since the very first fight). I got screwed on a side quest with a level 3 ghost, until I turned the difficulty down to the easiest and went from doing 10-12 damage a hit to 100-120 per hit  I think that "turning down the difficulty" is going to be a recurring fighting strategy, especially since the combat is a bit too complicated.

As for the characters, I honestly don't find Geralt likeable. He keeps being sarcastic when I don't want him to, because even "good guy" dialog choices frequently lead to him being an ass (this game could certainly learn something from Mass Effect when it comes to dialog). Its really annoying and between that and my complete lack of interest in his main quest of finding his old love interest I can't say he's even very compelling.

As for the game in general the graphics are really good. The actual world is every fantasy world ever so far and mostly just bland countryside, but even with bland design the graphics are good. Story wise it does have a huge problem of not being new player friendly when it comes to things like the world and story. Am I supposed to dislike the black armored guys? Was this country conquered? If so, by who? Was the country the bad guys or are the conquerors bad guys? Was Geralt a part of the fighting for this captured country? Should I care? Not to mention how little they explain about why I should care at all about the woman they're chasing. From what I understand, in Witcher 1 and 2 Geralt had sex with every living adult woman that would have him. So, why does he care about bland witch #4567? Because she smells like flowers?

Anyway, I'm not all that impressed so far, but its not a bad game or anything. Hopefully it gets more compelling, at least when it comes to things like side characters.

Are you reading through all of the biographies and stuff? W3 was my first exposure to the franchise, and I had no trouble following what was going on. I did a big of researching online after I started, but that was just out of curiosity, not because I was having trouble following it.

I'm trying to decide what I want to play next, I'm torn between several options.

Fables: The Wolf Among Us episodes 2-5: I've played through episode 1 twice, but both times I got sidetracked and never continued. If I go this route I'll probably play through ep1 one more time just to jog my memory.
Telltale Batman: I've heard very intriguing things about this one and I love Batman.
Telltale Guardians of the Galaxy: Love the Guardians.
The Last of Us: Left Behind: I love the main game, but I've just never gotten around the checking this out.
Batman: Arkham Knight DLC: Loved the main game, and the DLC stuff sounds like fun, especially the Batgirl story and the stuff with the other supporting characters.

Out of all of those, I can only really speak for the Batgirl DLC so far and I enjoyed it. (Short though)

I've played a bit of the demo of Telltale Batman and I'm not entirely convinced yet. (It is the only Telltale game I've played so far, so it may just be me not getting into their style of game yet)

I watched a fairly good video recap of Witcher 1 and read through the compendium included with the game. I know the very basics of the relationships (Ciri is his adopted daughter, the black haired woman is a former love interest, etc). That really doesn't make me care, though. It also didn't explain why he'd go following after one of approximately 12,000,000 people he's slept with or what makes her different then anyone else. I get that its the old "womanizer has one woman he truly loved but who went away" trope, but that doesn't make it compelling. It doesn't help that Geralt is generally a sarcastic jerk who I just don't like very much (I swear he could be interacting with orphans and he'd make fun of their lack of parents, and that would be the good guy dialog option).

Anyway, I'll keep going for awhile. It honestly just kind of feels like a better made Two Worlds II, especially with the wonky camera and the protagonist who is basically impossible to care about but without the interesting magic system (the horse riding is slightly better, though). It doesn't impress me outside of the graphics so far, especially the fairly mediocre combat and severe difficulty spikes on normal difficulty because you just don't level in the game (seriously, it takes 1000xp to get to level 2 but you only get around 50xp for a normal quest, I'll be level 5 sometime around the 50 hour mark at this rate) but its too early to drop it. Its a good thing my brother is the one who paid for it though, I'd have felt a bit ripped off at $30 based on what I've played so far. Probably should have grabbed Mass Effect Andromeda instead. Oh well, its not like I can't get that game eventually.

Speaking of getting games, No man's Sky was not very compelling so one trip to GameStop later and I now have Shadow of Mordor and Alien: Isolation. I probably won't get to either for awhile since I'm playing Mortal Kombat XL and Witcher 3 and also have DOOM, but I'm sure they'll be interesting.

Playing more of Witcher 3, its gotten better as I get used to it. There is some interewsting things in the area, and I think I've kind of gotten used to the combat (although it desperately needs a block button, and a better way of fighting groups). I managed to level up a few times because the quests stopped being quite so stingy with the XP. I've done the main quest stuff in the first area and I could leae, but I'm going to look at all the points of interest first and make sure I've finished all the stuff I can, at least when it comes to side quests.

I feel like we played a completely different game. But, to each their own.

For my money, The Witcher 3 makes every Bioware title look wooden, stilted, and dry. I don't think I could suffer through Mass Effect: Andromeda anymore.

Oh I am playing now the vampire themed game, Vampyr. I adore playing the games with the dreadful storylines and interesting heroes such as Blood Suckers. There is a lot of exciting gaming rounds and fabulous battles!

Agents Of Mayhem.....

I'm having a blast. This is crazy, and bonkers. It's fun.... Not a steep learning curve and nice graphics if you have a decent GPU / CPU but it needs at least 8gig RAM to run well.

So far it's been a blast (pardon the pun) and I want to do more.

7/10

To me the most amusing thing about the first Witcher game was the love scenes. The screen goes murky and you get a huge card of the girl on screen that you are making out with, nothing's visible so it won't put you off if you don't like that kind of thing...
