Is No Man's Sky worth It?

I'm currently playing STO, but I also want something less story/battle-focused for a change. Everyone seems to love this game, but It seems to me that It suffers from the same problem most AAA modern games like ME Andromeda do; Huge world, but very lackluster ACTUAL worldbuilding and storytelling. I really don't want to buy another one of these "play for a while and drop" kind of games

I think it was worth it when I got it on sale. They keep adding new things to do. There is a big update that just came out that enhances settlements. And all these new features have been free. However, after I went through the main story, I stopped playing. There is a lot more to do, emissions to run etc. I just pop in after each new update to check it out. I don't feel like I wasted my money.

The worldbuilding and lore is actually great, it's the gameplay loop that may make you quit, it's not for everyone since its very make your own goals, and it's the kind of exploration game where once base building gets added the game starts subconciously leaning towards fleshing out that instead. Also after the main story a lot of the wider lore isnt as front facing. There's still a lot to do even if the systems arent always that fleshed out either.

There's often "expeditions" every year that come with an update that ask you to play through a specific limited time thing for a few weeks, it varies how good those are but they're a thing. I do have long periods where Im playing and long periods where I'm not.

I agree.
The game is a bit overwhelming at first.
The game takes you a few things you need to do ( in terms of the storyline), but it doesn’t hold your hand all the way through.
It is a huge game, but if you get this game, have another game that is more exciting ( a shooter game). Play NMS for an hour, then play your other game.
I think this is a game best played in small doses.
And Yes, I think it is worth it.
