Concerns about the new ST

Why? It's been episodic for most of its "life". The longer arcs, like ENT Season 3, had a lot of filler.

That was over a decade ago

Most shows have "filler", but that doesn't mean so much. You'd think premieres and finales would always be good... NOT. Season 2 finale of TNG stands out. It was one of the most boring episodes of Trek I've ever seen. It was basically a clip show where nothing of any interest happened.

If you have the right writers and stories and characters then sometimes a full season leaves you wanting more.

Anyway, its perfectly normal for a show to start with less than a full season. Sometimes a lot less. If the 1st season is successful, CBS will order a full season's worth of episodes for season 2. Its nothing to worry about.

That episode was produce in a different era with a different mindset. Neither season premiers nor season finales were events. Shades of Grey was made to save money, not to create a cliffhanger or special event.

A full season is as long or short as the creators want. For this show 13 episodes is a full season.

I liked the new SW movie, but it's a shame they did not use Lucas's ideas
I'm curious about these ideas, could you mention a few?
I'm amazed CBS even agreed to do a new ST show after Enterprise's crash and burn
The previous series did okay rating wise, and the last couple of movies made money.
I hope there's a bunch of scenes with hot hunks of meat just making out in the corridors
Similar to DS9's Red Squad, the new series should have a unit called "GAY SQUAD." They get all the tough assignments.

26 episodes x $2 million=$52 million
13 episodes x $5 million=65 million
These are going to be the best looking ST TV episodes ever.

Enterprise always had better ratings than Batlestar Galactica. A lot of the cancelation had to do with studio politics. Season 4 of Enterprise was one of the top 5 ST TV show seasons in history.

By the time Enterprise 3nded, noone was watching it.
True, but Peter Noone is a hardcore fan.

This show wont be on broadcast TV. it wont be on a network. It wont be on "TV". It's "ratings" will probably be based on how many subscribers it gets. So, it's not TOS, TNG or ENT.

$2 million with inflation is worth more than double what it was 30 years ago.

And you're literally just pulling numbers out. NO where does it state the budget is $5m per episode now, and the budget can be across 13, or 22 episodes... or whatever... the idea being it's not money they lose. THe higher the budget the less they make in profit from ads.. that's all.
