Agents of SHIELD - Season 2 Discussion Threads. (Spoilers Likely)

Eh, I'd rather Fitz get it by other means and I hope Simmons is back to normal by the thirdish episode.

That'll do it.

Now, is that from the comics or are you just bonkers?

You don't think Simmons will become the team's second super powered gifted? ;)

Honestly, there's so many comic book characters out there that they could use. They should let the human agents stay human and use one of them.

Oh, I just got that.

We were talking about a hammer wielding toad though.

But yeah, Kermit could pick up Thor's hammer.

While they probably can't (or rather, shouldn't) do the same swicharoo they pulled with Skye really being Quake all along a second time, there's no reason why they can't pick a relatively obscure, underutilized or ill defined character with an interesting powerset and/or codename and just overlay it onto an existing character is that's what they want to do.

I think the "lizard," assuming you mean the red T. Rex, is Jack Kirby's Devil Dinosaur. According to Wikipedia, the cat is Hairball, the pet of Speedball of the New Warriors.

I never heard that Niels had his own codename!

Now we need Don and Bill.

Yes, but if Kermit is worthy and his operator isn't, could Kermit still pick it up?

Statler: "You mean that frog is worthy to wield Thor's hammer?"

Waldorf: "Sure! He's been carrying a load of dead weight for years!"

Both: "Haw-haw-haw-haw-haw!"

EDIT: Good grief, I just realized... Coulson is Kermit.

What's funny is that I'm currently in the middle of re-reading Walt Simonson's Thor for the first time in years, and Loki turning Thor into a frog is the story that I'm currently on.

I dunno, Coulson definitely has a whimsical/geeky side I don't much see in Kermit... his personality and especially enthusiasm for weirdness really reminds me more of Gonzo. 'Course, even in his first appearance he's had more weighty responsibilities than Gonzo ever did, but at heart... ?

I'm just hoping for significant Marvel crossover appearances on this fall's new Muppets series, myself. :p

No, Simmons is going full on supervillain. Her terrible reaction to powered people combined with the fact that she's consumed/bonded/whatever with something that was designed to destroy inhumans can't be a coincidence.

I dunno... Kermit would never have lasted as the Muppets' leader if he couldn't appreciate weirdness. Just because he has the discipline to bring it under control doesn't mean he doesn't want it as part of his life. And given that he devoted so much of his career to creating programs built around showcasing celebrity guests, I'd say there's plenty of geeky fanboy in his makeup. Just look at how wildly enthusiastic he is every time he mentions their very special guest star. Yayyyyyyyy!!!

Gonzo is more like Fitz or Simmons, in a way -- the passionate specialist who needs a more levelheaded leader to keep his enthusiasms from running out of hand or blinding him to the bigger picture.

(Put another way, Gonzo is a geek, but in the original sense of a carnival performer dedicated to strange and unnerving performances, rather than the modern sense of a passionate and knowledgeable fan of something.)

So is Fozzie, although not in the same way. I kinda see Fitz/Simmons (the platonic version) as stand-ins for Gonzo and Fozzie.

So does that make Elmo Nick Fury?
