Is Janeway an example of the 'mother bitch woman in power' trope?

Caprica was a mess. It had some nice visual direction and some cool ideas but it was all over the place and had about as much story cohesion as the third season of Heroes. It seemed to be singularly obsessed with religious terrorism, had no likable or even sympathetic characters, and couldn't keep on the same track for two consecutive episodes.

The Plan is something you should only watch if you are already familiar with the main show and really like it. It does fill in some of the story gaps in the first two seasons but that's about it.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Caprica was originally a stand-alone show, and all references to the BSG universe were hastily added on at the last minute?

As for Janeway: I'm really not seeing the problem here. She is a very nuanced and complicated character. Any complaints about 'tropes' can probably be reduced to jealousy. Of course it's also hard to write a character of any kind that doesn't happen to fall into SOME trope or whatever, but Janeway...I like her very much, and most of the rest of us do as well...as for the thread title? Woman in power, yes. Mother? Not that we know of. Bitch? Of course not. (Anyone who would use an insult like that? As I said: jealousy.) So what's there left to argue about?

A female Salamander is called a sow.

A baby Salamander is called a tadpole.

A male Salamander is called a boar.

A group of Salamanders is called a maelstrom.

Janeway was a sow who'd had a maelstrom of tadpoles with a boar.

It's true that Memoryalpha lists the three salamander babies as her, and Paris's children.

This is why there will be a book about them very soon, contacting their mother needing help. They will easily be adults because, different growth rates. A tachyon nebula surge will have reverted them to their human form, to make us all like them better.

Sorry for the double post. Multi-quote hasn't worked since my last mobile browser update. (Nice huh?)

Anyway, ain't that the truth on television.

Hey, Teacake, get in the holiday spirit and change your name to Edible Fruitcake or something. Hahahah. :-) Tasty Cake, chocolate cake, holiday cake, coffee cake, Replicated cake. Janeway's slice. I don't know. Those are my stupid suggestions.

I thought about fruitcake one year but after my fantabulous Halloween name of teacock everything else is just a lesser effort.

And they won't let me have asscake. Which is just a cute abbreviation for Christmascake but they* are jerks.

Yes, how did you get away with teacock I'd like to know. A shame about the ass cake. Since you've been lamenting and all it works.

I have to say Janeway looks particularly gorgeous in your avatar. I've abandoned my heterosexual norm there for a split second.

Teacock was a play on peacock. Because of Janeway's pet peacock in my fanfiction that I wrote over the course of several parkland visits. She had it growing up on earth, the housetraining chapter was delightful.

Is that from Cathexis? Omg the only thing great about that episode was her hair and her back hand...arm...whatever. :-) I could watch that back slap to possessed Tuvok again. (I love tuvok. Don't get me wrong)

I'm not sure where it's from.. I have 307 pics in my Janeway album. And that's not counting the Janet Janeway album (historical webpage that had screengrabs from videos and over 1000 pages) and my Admiral Janeway album and my Janeway Poster album. Or, obviously, the massive Kate Mulgrew album(s).

She's a stunning woman. Commanding, warm, inspiring, sensuous.. with a deliberate delicacy at times.

TPTB: "Fine Kate! If you will not let us make you a sexier Captain we will give your hairstyle to Seven as well as your man.". (For some reason this plays in my head like an angry heavy accented Frenchman)

HAHAHAHA.. the two people she was always shipped with and TPTB ship them together. Which one was she the most jealous of I wonder.
