WoW - Musings & Discussion

I've been away from the game for a few months now, and so I'm sitting here wondering whether I should resub or put it off until Cata or at least 3.3, and as I'm doing this an e-mail from Blizzard comes through offering me 7 days free play. I should check for cameras. :shifty:

Same thing happened to my husband. It's not just you!

I got it as well. My account has been inacctive since June or July. The 7 days is good until the end of the year so I am hoping Patch 3.3 comes out so I can run the new 5-man dungeons...That would tide me over until Cataclysm.

It is a bit different recently, mounts at 20, epics at 40, flying in outland at 60. They want you to level faster (and you do) so that you need the expansions faster. And its working.

add on top of that those BOA +10% exp items that stack.

leveling used to be fun, now its just a chore

If it seems a chore it's probably because by now we've all leveled a big pile of characters. Even if you've started a toon of every race, there are only so many starting zones in the world and we've done them all a million times.

I've gotten a little bored with my 80 as well. I just mostly do holiday quests and achievements nowadays, and ride around throwing Mohawk Grenades at pitying fools.

Leveling my DK is still fun, mostly because it's only my second toon to get up to Northrend levels, so there's still plenty of new stuff to do. :)

Levelling a new character should be a lot more fun for long time players once Cataclysm launches.

It's official, Icecrown Citadel Patch 3.3 goes live this afternoon. I've got the download, just waiting for the servers to come up.

For those of you not heavily into progression raiding, a cool trailer for the new 5-man dungeons done by a member of Vodka known for his professional quality. Contains a few spoilers.

im also waiting for the servers to come back up. So much for 11 am. =p
Even on normal maintanence days 11am is optimistic.

I've got 7 80's now, and a 64, and a 53. One of the 80's is a DK so call it 6 80's leveled from 1-80. Leveling is beyond a chore by the fourth or fifth time. It's at times agonizing and mind numblingly boring. I really have to push myself to level someone through the tough grind areas (50-58, 63-68) and I imagine it will be the same in the 70's once I hit them.

every major content patch, like this one, you can usually count on a 6 PEE-EMM time, rather than the 11am.

they might come up before then, but you will have the usual side effects: horrendous lag, several restarts, mailboxes and instances wont work... etc etc etc.

edit: not to mention unusually high server populations, due do everyone and their mother wanting to check out the new content

Yeah, im expecting things like any flight point I use (alliance side) will inadvertantly drop me in Ogrimmar. Because it just aint WOW patch day without some broken crap.

I only use questhelper, and from what I hear, theyre pretty much adding a QH type thing into the game, making QH useless.

if you get bored leveling through pve content, you can try leveling via battlegrounds. my wife is now hooked on battlegrounds... she's working on a third character to reach 80 and using BGs to reach it (she started BGs around 58 and is in her 70's now).

Dammit, I want the patch to work so that I can try some new content before having to go to bed for work. Damn EST!

When I gave up it was World Of Walking everywhere. That and drops by foes were so pathetic that hours of gameplay were needed just to be able to afford the most basic of supplies. I don't remember ever getting XP for PVP so I did very little in the Battlegrounds. I saw little point to it.

They added the battleground xp thing very recently. You also now have the option of switching xp gain on and off if you want to remain in the same level bracket.
