Wonder Woman 2 Anticipation Thread

Maybe he's just wearing the fanny pack to take his stuff around with him in between shooting scenes.

Hmm. Although nostlgic, I doubt she'd be looking at TV images of ESB or BTTF in the early to mid 80's. Unless they were on HBO, but even then they wouldn't be on at the same time. ;)

If Chris Pine didn't die in the first movie, there's going to be even more Captain America comparisons to the franchise if he's playing a man out of time like Rogers or Bucky.

With that said, I'm glad he's back, regardless. I thought he was great in Wonder Woman 1917.

Or perhaps Chris Pine is playing another Steve in the Trevor family. Perhaps he is the original Steve's great nephew or something. You know . . . using the same tactic that CBS used for Lyle Waggoner portraying a modern Steve Trevor, when the old series moved from ABC.

Why is this movie set in the 1980s? I thought Diana didn't get engaged in any action as Wonder Woman between World War I and 2015?

ARRGH....no. That was a contrived plot device for that TV series and never worked, and I doubt it would in a class-A production like this one.

Perhaps to explain why she's reluctant to really join the world? Se had her reasons in the first film, but something must call her back to action, only for it (whatever "it" is) to sour her on humanity once again (probably in a dark way) which keeps her hidden until shortly before the events of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Could be anything.

"Back to the Future" came out in 1985 not 1984. Hang you head in shame. :)

Just a cool idea but what if Wonder Woman gets to watch a old episode of the Lyndia Carter "Wonder Woman" show. The idea that Hollywood took her story and turned it into this fun but silly campy type of show.
I do want the Invisible Jet to be real. I want to see how they would make that idea work.

1984 huh? - “It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen............”

I like that idea a lot! Very meta!

I have little doubt that the year is no coincidence. After all, even given the decision to set the story in the eighties, they had nine other options for the specific year and chose this one. (It also answers the question of why the full year is spelled out in the title, which some have found awkward, preferring something like Wonder Woman '84; only the full year would carry the same ominous literary resonance.)

I'm guessing there will be thematic elements that will evoke Orwell -- probably issues of truth vs. doublethink, a conflict that is never not relevant, and especially not in these past couple of years.

This would tie in nicely with the image of a worried Diana in front of TV screens.

They openly stated that they were going to ignore that line about Diana doing nothing for 100 years. Probably because of how limiting it is to her character since ignoring it means they can have stories of her dealing with time periods the others weren't around in...which is what they're doing now.
