Wizard of Oz meets Star Trek

This is nothing to do with me, I just saw it today. I couldn't get past 5 half minutes as the plot was terribly confusing. It looks good for an amateur production. The sound jumps all over the place which is really annoying.

I really wanted to watch it to see how it blends the 2 ideas but ultimately I had to give up. But you may enjoy it.

There's no plot. It's just a lot of empty chattering. Endless repetition. Nothing happens. Dorothy says she plans to join Starfleet like 75 times. The poor little girl dances around like she needs to use the bathroom.

Worst yet, there's an endless loop of the same piece of music...it's mind-numbing.

My advice: Skip.

I think a positive response would be best,

The story has potential, but the execution needs a good looking through. We need to better understand the characters and what is happening and why. This is not well communicated. There are technical issuers, but nothing that can not be worked around. The largest obstacle is the audio, it needs to be re-done. Secret Voyage has a similar issue, but once fixed improved their production greatly.

I am sure the next installment will have a more cohearent feel and be far more entertaining piece for it.

Good Luck!

It's not her video...

And this is not Joe's first (or even his fifth) episode.

This is, in many ways, the weirdest Star Trek fan film series I have found to date. (And you folk do know I've found A LOT of them...)

Although the lone, short Arabic parody Trek film was quite unique, I thought it was just a cultural translation of all things Trek. This was my Headline about it on July 12, 2012: Spacekisser.

Arabic with English subtitles. Comedy, Green Screen, Live Action by adult fans. This film is made in the Bollywood film style, with no touching between the sexes, which is also in accord with Islamic law. Instead, the actors dance. I have been whining like a high speed drill that there was no Arabic Trek. Now, I'll have to content myself with whining that there is insufficent Arabic Trek. Posted as a Comedy or Parody short here: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/208.html . Also as a non-English Star Trek Fan Film here: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/219.html .

I don't think a positive response is required. I tend to be very fair in my critiques of fan films, but this is a narrative mess. It's effectively a single scene that is 10 times as long as it needs to be and in which the characters effectively say the same four things over and over and over.

I just got an e-mail from the filmmaker of ST: Nature's Hunger who has informed me that this is the middle of what he considers a story arc. He will first release the rest of it, then how the Starfleet characters got to Oz.

I list 'em. I don't make 'em. And yes, I list ALL the ones I can find... and also all the ones that find me!

ALSO: My old criteria for Headlines has been relaxed a bit. STR is now just too big to expect folks to scan it for new, lessor finds and realize which are new. Somebody just claimed I have 1000 fan films. I don't know. I stopped counting when it got to 500... and no, I haven't counted in almost two years. Could be.
