WIP: U.S.S. Bozeman revisited--aka Unused TSFS Ship Design.

What are you talking about?! This is exactly what my beauty looked like the whole time!

That ship on TNG? Never mind that. Stunt ship. Body double. I mean, think about it - the number of times they ran her into the Enterprise, you think I'd let them use my real ship?

(Seriously, though - really good work, Gep Malakai. :))

In particular, I love the deflector niblets.
Me, too. I'd like an order of those, with some fries and a Coke, please. :D

This ship is one of those things I really, really like (and seldom see)... something that feels totally "in-continuity" without just being a cut-and-paste-job. Most of the time, ships are either "bashed" from other components (it's OK to borrow CONCEPTS, like the clear shared lineage between this ship's nacelles and those on the Grissom) but not to directly lift and "cut-and-paste" details... not unless it's a system which is likely purchased in-bulk by Starfleet. ;)

How much more physical detail do you intend to put into this baby. For me, I look at it and say "it's done." (There's a saying that's common in my profession - "there comes a time, in every project, when you just have to shoot the engineer." That means... we who design things are never quite satisfied, and if given a chance, we'll keep on tweaking things forever!)

The obvious next step is one I'm very much looking forward to... largely because its an area where I'm not as capable as I'd like to be. That area would be "texturing." I've got a lot to learn in this area, and so I'm always looking forward to watching other folks go through that process.

That kind of thing bugs the shit out of me too, so I've been working deliberately to avoid it.

The mesh is close to done. I have a few more windows to add, I need to go in and revise those new nurnies on the back saucer dorsal, add the deflector shield grid on the bottom of the saucer, and scatter about more small details (like those little boxes all over the hull). Plus there's a few areas where it still looks blank, especially around the deflectors. Beyond that though...

I'm not fond of laying UVs and painting textures, though, so I'm also procrastinating.

Surprisingly, I've never heard that saying. Heard many others with similar sentiment, though.

Just fab. Absolutely fab. I just want to see this thing fly past a space dock window. Off to kick some Rommie butt on the border.

The impulse engines are disproportionaly largen and the shuttle deck are entirely to wide IMHO.

Otherwise, it is an interesting design.

Both of these are A.) known issues and B.) entirely intentional. You'll have to take the issue up with Nilo Rodis, though, as it's his design. ;)

I really like this ship... that the music from the new Star Trek is playing right now in the background of my living room is making it even better ;)

Top work.
I like how you managed to capture that 1980s model/miniature look with this mesh.

Thank you sir. :) It's gratifying to have people mention the '80s motion-control miniature feel, since that was my goal. Having it brought up independently without promoting means I must be getting it right.

On to more starship goodness. The mesh is very close to done. There some mesh errors I need to address, and I need to add spotlight fairings where needed, and also detail of some kind to either outer side of the deflector assemblies. But that's probably it. So:

Have at it.

Very nice work so far :techman::drool:

On a purely technical level I'd like to know what kind of lighting setup you're using here. Even for test renders like these I'm digging the look of these images.
