As big as Reddit is, I’d expect much more, in all honesty. There are 600 posts in the season three finale thread here.
I think it is one of those things where burnout is starting to set in. If you look at the main page here, each show after Discovery has less and less engagement.
You can always look at the SNW subreddit and/or google search for yourself as I just did.
Ehh, I see some anime that have larger fan bases than Trek with comment sections the same size, and those folks are far more Reddit-centric.
There has not been one created for SFA, says coming soon. Though thank you for showing me the archive portion for discussion.
I imagine some anime shows like Naruto or Dragon ball are bigger than the most popular wester shows.
The franchise has been going on for 60 years. The older fan base is getting older and they’re not being replaced. There are 1000 episodes and that is a hard entry point for bringing in new fans. Hell, I’d love to do a rewatch of the whole franchise but the idea is daunting of watching all of them. And I am a fan!
So yes, generally, signs of franchise fatigue have hit. And while I find enjoyment out of current Trek, it’s because I have been a lifelong fan. But I’ll be honest and say if I wasn’t, I don’t know if anything in the past fifteen years would make me want to watch more.

Not really. People give them some weight but that's been the case since Cinema Sins like ten years ago. It's just not that big of a deal.
It wasn't a popular show and people enjoy it.
The show's doing no harm to Trek's alleged goddamn "legacy."
It certainly didn't expand the fan base. Might even have shrunk it.
They clearly created the show with younger people in mind. They wanted to bring new fans in. The YA slang, the romance etc. All to try and hook new fans. It certainly did not do that. At least the Kelvin movies brought new we fans in. I didn't even like the kelvin but they did their job.

Yeah, I disagree that SNW was designed for new fans. It was very much initially designed to evoke the awe and wonder of the galaxy, à la, TOS. It started taking big swings and that became its thing, again, harkening back to TOS, but this time in the concept of the anthology like show that TOS was. I think it succeeded on both fronts.
And god forbid having romances in Star Trek. Oh yeah, that’s a form of fun. And Trek doesn’t do fun. I forgot.

Lol. Those were mostly short lived. The ones that weren't didnt take up whole seasons. I had to see the whole cringey one between the kid who kept complaining about his mom and the betazoid with the super scream powers. Lol.

I’d kept my list to pre-Kurtzman era because I knew that was the reference point of the argument, but those are all perfect additions!
Trip and tpol were terrible. But the rest still not as bad as the the man kid and the super scream betazoid. Also we had more than one romance going on in the first season of SFA.
