Will SFA Season 2 Actually Air?

I was wondering if Paramount will actually air season 2 or not. Is it worth to air it or take a tax write off. The Willow TV show has completely disappeared from Disney because they took ar tax write off. It can never be shown or sold on dvds ever again. Is it worth it to do a tax write off to get some revenue out of it? Will SFA make enough revenue to justify keeping it on paramount and airing the 2nd season.

I think they'll most likely run it but with the merger it could change their minds. Mergers send to upset companies for a couple years while they restructure. So I think anything can happen

The only other example besides willow that I can think of is the batgirl movie that WB canceled and got a wrote off. So I think it is rare. A strange way for thrse studios to get their money back I think.

Personally since there is a rumor thst season 2 ends in a cliffhanger I dont have much interest in watching it this time around.

I don’t see any reason right now to assume it won’t.

The Willow TV show
I did not follow that show, but looking into it it seems like a single season was shot and aired on Disney+, and only then did they take it off the service. So I’m not sure how that would be analogous to what you’re suggesting with Starfleet Academy. Seems like there isn’t really a precedent in terms of TV shows.

Correct me if I’m wrong, and maybe I’m confusing you with someone else, but didn’t you at one point straight up say you want them to shelve season two and not air it? Basically out of spite, because you didn’t like it?

Right but willow only had one season and it failed. Would they still be able to get a write off if they air the second season and it fails? If they are allowed to air it then get a tax write off for both seasons than they would have to shelve the show. There might be time limits on how long they could do it. Interesting to think about.

I dont ever recall saying I didn't want 2 to air out of "spite". But if it doesnt air it would limit the damage it could cause to Trek. That is a the reason I don't want it to air. I believe its damaging Treks legacy. Just my opinion.

Ayup. Just trying to stir up shit.

This is a legitimate topic. Its happened before. Im sure others like you want to see it. I totally understand. Im just on the other side. But I do believe it will air unless paramount really needs the extra cash that a write off would provide. I think it really depends on how the merger pans out.

Yes.

And you didn't have much interest in watching it the first time around either.

I watched the entire series. The interest was there. I kept watching even after I felt it wasnt very good. So I gave it a chance. Many star trek fans never ever watched it and gave it a chance at all.

I might even change my mind and give the 2nd season a look if I have room on my TV schedule that year. Who knows it might be better.

So yeah, not nearly the same thing. They didn’t shoot a second season of Willow that they then didn’t air. So what you think they might do seems to be so incredibly rare that I don't think there is a good reason right now to assume it might even be something within the realm of possibility. Other than some folks’ wishful thinking, of course.

Well, I think it’s ridiculous to think that the second season could somehow “damage” any legacy. It’s just another iteration of the Trek universe, different in many ways, but not so different that it somehow doesn’t belong with the others or would be able to “damage” Trek. I think that’s an overdramatization to the point of being totally ridiculous. You personally just didn't like the fucking show. No reason to spin that into something as grandiose as “It’s damaging the legacy!”

And saying that it was out of spite that you wished the second season was shelved was just my own interpretation as to your motives. You did say a couple of times that you would shelve the second season if it were your decision. And frankly, it just seems a bit spiteful to me to wish that a production that has already been filmed, into which hundreds of creatives passionately put their time and energy, and which thousands of fans are eagerly looking forward to would just be made unavailable, just because you personally did not enjoy it and fear that it might do something as vague as “damaging Trek’s legacy”.

Do us all a favor and don’t watch it.

But if it doesnt air it would limit the damage it could cause to Trek.

What damage? The second season will be more of the same, so that “damage” has already been done.

Could Paramount Prodigy it? Taking it away after it airs? Possibly. But they’ve said another season is coming, so I’ll take them at their word.

I'm loathe to even resubscribe for paramount plus for the remainder of SNW and Academy. Literally no consequences for not financially supporting them anymore.

You know im a canon hound. Particularly about trek. Especially visual canon. It needs to make sense to me I might have even given the show a bit more chance but the stories thenselves were not good on mu opinion. I wanted to see an actual academy show about how stsrfleet prepares their people. I dont believe we got that. I might have given it more leeway if they placed it in the later 25th century as well. The show just doesn't seem like it's near 800 years past picard. Im just protective of trek. I've been watching it forever and when things veer off too much I get turned off. But no im not spiteful. It is what it is. Im glad some love it. But I have my issues with it. I just cant get past my issues. Im sorry.

Is this a show that can really afford to have less viewers?

That's a good point. If they continue to shed viewers could the revenue get so bad that theyll have to attempt a tax write off to get some money back? If that happened I think law says they would need to pull the show and never air it again even on live TV.

Weren't you one of the people, before the show even dropped, who said they couldn't wait to watch it so they could start bashing it?

No. I never said that here. Maybe provide a link on what you think I said or meant.

I'm loathe to even resubscribe for paramount plus for the remainder of SNW and Academy. Literally no consequences for not financially supporting them anymore.

There's a lot of good stuff on paramount plus that I like especially all if classic trek the movies etc. That would be hard for me to give up. I have no actual physical media for anything I watch so streaming or broadcast TV is all I got. Lol.

You're right. Its already out there.

I do think they could air the second season and do a tax write off after if they really need the cash. But by then it might be too late to get money for thr first season.

Not worth the trouble, as I said I couldn't recall if you were or not. Tell me you weren't critical of it before the show aired and I will definitely call bullshit on that. I'm not going to engage in this "hey look at me" thread any longer.
