Why was the last episode of DS9 so incredibly awful?

Just watched the finale again so was pleasantly surprised to see an ongoing discussion.

Again I was really disappointed with the last line

I wanted Quark to say "the more things change", but then Morm to say "the more things stay the same"

That's all I'd change.

The only thing I would change for sure would be putting scenes with Jadzia in Worf and maybe some others' montage.

Would anyone complain if they Lucased in a it of Jadzia into the montage if/when they bring the show to Bluray?

Though I'm usually against such things, I would have to admit to approving of it in this case.

I was thinking about that Worf montage. What scenes would you remove, what would you add?

(Personally I'd remove the one from Our Man Bashir, as it wasn't actually Worf from memory, and I'd put in a scene from either the wedding or some other Worf/Jadzia scene. I'd also put a scene into the OBrien montage which had him and Julian (And Sisko) attacking Worf at the wedding).

I think that toying with the episode would open up a can of worms, not on the level of "Han shot first," but still one that would question of the nature of the montage itself. Who is remembering, and what are they remembering? If the characters are thinking about the relationships they had, how would the audience feel if there are no referenes to Jadzia pre-WOTW? If they are remembering the people they are leaving behind, why think about Jadzia at all? Would not showing memories of Kira and O'Brien be more important, given that they shared certain intimate experiences around the pregnancy? If it is for our benefit, who would remember Jadzia in seasons 1-3?

They couldn't replay footage of Terry Farrell? I mean that was just stupid. I get maybe there were legal issues and she wasn't happy but surely could have worked something out.

The producers used Farrell's picture a few episodes before WITHOUT asking permission. That's a big no no and understandably left her in no mood to give them a bargain rate on the use of her footage in the finale.

Yeah, I'm sure TPTB tried to work something out, just as I'm sure that ideally they'd never use stock footage. Budgets happen.

Heck, they could have worked out keeping her on the show. She says now that she didn't want to leave. She just didn't want to be in every episode

Huh. I literally just posted in other thread about how this episode is, in fact, my favorite in the whole franchise. Different strokes, lol.

It's certainly flawed, but the emotional resonance gets me every time.

That would have been cool.
