Unfortunately, original doesn’t mean good. As I am learning rewatching “The Vulcan Hello”.

This. Rick Berman made stuff I was into and stuff I wasn't. Alex Kurtzman has also made stuff I'm into and stuff I'm not. Multiple shows under someone's watch and it's going to happen no matter who's up top.I blame social media and the general population of uninformed morons on the planet that have easy access to it.
Kurtzman is just fine. So was Berman before him, until he ran out of ideas. Practically the only showrunner who actively hurt the Star Trek franchise was Gene Roddenberry (and Leonard Maizlish) during the start of TNG. But the 'Roddenberry is God' crowd (of mostly uninformed fans) will never understand this.
So true, (some) Trek fans need to take off their rose tinted Ye olde Trek specsThis. Rick Berman made stuff I was into and stuff I wasn't. Alex Kurtzman has also made stuff I'm into and stuff I'm not. Multiple shows under someone's watch and it's going to happen no matter who's up top.
It's happened before, it's happening right now, it'll happen again.
And thus this thread was a pretty terrible idea. I have said my piece, and am departing.I guess I missed those press conferences.
Why do you think that? I'm just curious and don't necessarily disagree with you.I still think Discovery’s biggest mistake was with the first two episodes.

Seriously was that something they shouted in the press? And thus this thread was a pretty terrible idea. I have said my piece, and am departing.

Wasn't that originally the plan? To piece out bits of The battle of the Binary Stars throughout the season? I think you're right in that it would have improved the first season by a fair bit.The writing was simply bad. They should’ve used them as periodic flashbacks, the quality of the writing wouldn’t have stuck out as badly.

I recall hearing somewhere that that was the original plan. That we'd start with what became the third episode and throughout the first season we'd find out what it was that landed Michael in the clink and out of Starfleet.I haven’t followed the show that closely, so I’m not sure what the original plan was?
Something to do with the Final Five,I haven’t followed the show that closely, so I’m not sure what the original plan was?
And yet I am watching it right now lolReluctantly, I watched one and I can't help but wonder why they want to keep giving the topic so much attention. They've all but written off the Kurtzman era as non-canon and confidently declared that "no one watches it".
That's a good one, but I think I would have to go with If Memory Serves.“Context is for Kings” is probably still my favorite episode of CBS Trek.
