Why the hate for Alex Kurtzman?

I blame social media and the general population of uninformed morons on the planet that have easy access to it.

Kurtzman is just fine. So was Berman before him, until he ran out of ideas. Practically the only showrunner who actively hurt the Star Trek franchise was Gene Roddenberry (and Leonard Maizlish) during the start of TNG. But the 'Roddenberry is God' crowd (of mostly uninformed fans) will never understand this.
This. Rick Berman made stuff I was into and stuff I wasn't. Alex Kurtzman has also made stuff I'm into and stuff I'm not. Multiple shows under someone's watch and it's going to happen no matter who's up top.

It's happened before, it's happening right now, it'll happen again.

So true, (some) Trek fans need to take off their rose tinted Ye olde Trek specs

And thus this thread was a pretty terrible idea. I have said my piece, and am departing.
You're free to think that.

I'm genuinely trying to see if there's something that seperates Kurtzman from the others who have been in charge. Or if, as it's been suggested, it's really just the fact that he's in charge during the age of social media. Which I agree is probably the case, but it's still a fascinating topic, in my opinion.

Wasn't that originally the plan? To piece out bits of The battle of the Binary Stars throughout the season? I think you're right in that it would have improved the first season by a fair bit.

I haven’t followed the show that closely, so I’m not sure what the original plan was?

I recall hearing somewhere that that was the original plan. That we'd start with what became the third episode and throughout the first season we'd find out what it was that landed Michael in the clink and out of Starfleet.

Just recently, i've ended up with suggestions on YouTube that amount to "Kurtzman is out", so I'm guessing he got under certain people's skin. The usual suspects of course, curse the algorithm.

Reluctantly, I watched one and I can't help but wonder why they want to keep giving the topic so much attention. They've all but written off the Kurtzman era as non-canon and confidently declared that "no one watches it".

Do they not know it's free advertising for the show? At least a few of their subscribers could end up watching it to see what all the fuss is about and add to the viewing figures.

I veered off topic a bit there, but I guess I'll never quite understand. I know it's a grift, but it's not exactly stopping Star Trek from happening.
