It could be a different version (ie. one where different scenes were chopped out for commercials)... but I am reasonably sure that in The Trouble With Tribbles, Kirk went into the elevator wearing one shirt, wore a different one while he was in the elevator, and exited wearing his original shirt. If I can find the episode somewhere online, I'll check for myself.I just finished watching "The Troubles with Tribbles" because of this post. I watched it all the way through without any scene skips. I even watched the preview for alternate takes. I thought Guy had introduced the clothing change, and I was going to lord it over his head until he reached my age. And I don't even like the episode.Or each minute. In "The Trouble With Tribbles" he did a quick-change during a brief elevator ride to the Bridge.Actually, speaking of changing clothes, if this is later in the series, couldn't Kirk be in one of those green numbers?
It really was a random roll of the dice depending on how self concious about his gut Shatner felt each week.
But I was watching for a costume change. I didn't spot him wearing the regular shirt, only the wraparound, and can't even remember an elevator scene. But since I've been relaxing for over an hour, it's highly possible I'm not running on full thrusters. But it had the CGI effects, and I noticed the little Enterprise outside Lurry's office was moving.
Not even Jeri Ryan could get me to like the mess that is nuTrek.BUT I had an amazing picture in my head reading some of this. Future Star Trek show of Greg Cox's crossover time travel novel. It can be a movie or a double episode. And we have NuKirk who is hot and played by Pine and we have 7 and she is played by JERI RYAN who looks just as good if not better today. I am sure Jeri would love to be in a major blockbuster movie starring opposite Chris Pine as his love interest and we wouldn't even have to wait for events to conclude! There could be sexual tension from scene one! I am sure Greg would not mind these additions to the script.
I bet he couldn't have put that in the book even if he wanted to as the Treklit PTB would be like uhh.. you know how no one is ever to know what Yoda's species is well 7 cannot get it on with anyone in this part of the VOY timeline because she is being saved for Chak, how would Chak feel if he knew he was not just rescuing an emotionally feeble borg with his love but following in the notches of James T. Kirk? Of course they can't do that to Chak. Plus they had to save up all the Chak angst for killing Janeway.
