Who's Your Favourite Minor Character?

Tal Celes, I loved Zoe McClellan in JAG...And I'm dating a woman named Celeste now...Funny, no?

I thought she did well in both roles, personally.

Does anyone else see that Celes Tal (assuming Celes is her surname. Evidence was in the Good Shepherd where she was addressed as Tal Celes. Maybe, like Ro Laren said, she switched her names around for ease of relating with humans) seems to be almost a play on the word Celestial and thus the Bajoran spiritual nature...

Naomi Wildman is my fave minor character. She's adorable!
I liked her friendships with Seven and Neelix.

Yup, I always thought that was a cheesy reference to the Celestial Temple. Great role, great actress.

I liked Luder. He brought his own interesting twist to the mix and I was somewhat bummed when he died. But at least he died "with the blaze of glory".

i liked the characters on the episode "lower decks" and feel they should have done more with them. They were well acted and could've brought some contrast to the normally uber-starfleet persona normally delivered. shame. star trek can be so one story plot lined.

I agree, those lower decks characters in any Star Trek franchise would be a perfect foil against the uber-Starfleeters and make Star Trek that much more accessible.

^ Very true and it is a direction any new Trek show should take. Harry Kim was a perfect opportunity to explore the other crewmembers and life onboard a starship [esp one stranded so far from home] through this approach. Instead he turned into a super kid. Lost opportunity there.

But even more so with the Good Shepherd characters who should have been followed up more rather than having Seven centric episodes. If TPTB had to do Seven centric shows then at least have her play off her Borg maginificance against these lowly cvrew members.

mirandafave, I love how you think. I will argue from dawn till dusk that lower decks crew members make Trek that much more accessible to the general public, especially characters like Tal Celes and Billy Telfer, because they show that not every Starfleet crewmember is technically and tactically proficient, that they have their struggles and that makes them just that much more appealing.

I'm not a Harry Kim fan, and in an upcoming fic of mine he will get a mild bashing.

Dingo

I still would have loved to see Seven interacting with Mort Harren, can you just imagine. Some of my favorite fics involve lower deck characters.

I'll be sure to point you to my fic when I've posted it.

I can't wait to read it during spring break. You're always asking interesting questions.

My favorite minor character is Naomi, but I really wanted to see more of the equinox crew. They just seemed to disappear after that two-parter.

I'm flattered, I'll do my best not to disappoint with what I've written so far. It's gonna have a few crossovers in it too, but I'll integrate them as best I can.

As stated my favorites are the lower decks crewmen (both the Learning Curve and Good Shepherd casts). I'd have loved to see more of them.

I also liked the Borg Children. My favorite episodes involving them were Haunting of Deck 12 and the one where they returned Icheb to his home world. I loved the science fair scene:

Janeway: Why potatoes?
Seven: Their first idea was to clone Naomi. I suggested they start with something smaller...

Makes me wonder just how Samantha Wildman might have reacted to the fact that Naomi now had a little sister...

Suder and Seska. Suder was conflicted but Seska was so very very interrresting! If she'd had better backup than the Kazon she could've been queen of the DQ!

Thank you, at times I too love how I think! Definitetly, the lower decks dimension adds a whole new ... er ... dimension to the show. In my opinion, humble though it be, had they taken more of an approach with Harry it would have made him more interesting and would have allowed the writers to explore him more, even from a lowly position.

Harry, Seven The Doctor, Tuvok, all the main cast characters, would have had great interactions with these characters. Some were so well written and defined in stand alone episodes. It would have been great to see more of them.

Ones they did use, such as Seska and Suder, made a great impact and made for some great stories. Also I think it only logical that as a stranded ship we should have seen more [and in the case of Ayala, actually heard more] of them.

Oh the ones on Good shepherd were great, loved Ayala. Owen Paris. Icheb and Q junior. really wish we would have gotten to see more of them. For instance the equinox crew, once they came on board we never saw them again.
