Who's Your Favourite Minor Character?

Oh the ones on Good shepherd were great

No arguement there. That episode inspired me to write a fanfic of my own that takes place a week or so after the Good Shepherd. It's a five chapter fic centering on four lower decks crewmembers on an away mission on the Delta Flyer with Tom Paris. I should have the first chapter up in a week or so.

I liked:
Seska
Suder
Billy Telfer from 'Lower Decks', er, I mean 'Good Shepard.'
Icheb
The Qs

Though I loathed the episode in which she died ("Basics, Part II").

Basics had I think a pretty good start, but just got stupid all the way around. I adore Chakotay's line "Stuck on a barren planet with the only Indian in the universe that can't start a fire by rubbing two sticks together." But I don't think Captain Janeway was stupid enough to not know why the Kazon were attacking in the same place and I don't think they would have been caught like they were.

That's the crux of it for me. Janeway should have been smart enough to figure out that Seska would have had a reason to keep hitting them there.

I believe that they would have known going in that it could be a trap (which they did) and because of that would have put plans in place with the notion that they could get taken over. And I don't believe that once Voyager set down on that planet, she could have taken back off again. I'm pretty sure that B'Elanna was smart enough to have everything shut down.

So now you got the crew off the ship, hiding from the Kazon. The Kazon would be searching for guys with yellow on their uniform. Saying that, said Kazon might have picked the wrong guys with yellow on their uniform (like security) and don't make it back to Voyager because the crew have hidden phasor parts and com badges on themselves (like in boot heels).

Anyway "Basics" could have been a great Episode.

Agreed. There could have been a better way of getting the ship into Kazon hans. I feel that was necessary to make the crew seem like they were in greater danger. Also at the very least, a short scenario featuring the Kazon having to capture engineers (or Seska trying to recruit the Maquis) to help them fix the ship before finally managing to take off would have helped. Maybe some of the Maquis should have pretende to collaborate to stay aboard?

I kind of took it from Shattered that they'd hooked up sometime in the next few years... How long do you think we'd have to have waited for a romantic payoff on that front if her maturation rate slowed a little that is that she wouldn't be looking like Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies by the time she approached her mid twenties.

Icheb
The lost shepherd crewmen
Naomi Wildman (Neelix is her godfather)
Q (he is so funny trying to seduce Janeway)
I also liked Logan as well

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Suder. He was easily the most complex and complicated minor character in the series. I mean anyone who can put Tuvok on edge has my vote.
That and Brad Douriff always plays the best of villains/psychopaths!
I would have liked to have seen them explore the life of Suder for a bit longer but he did go out fighting! The perfect death for a psychopathic maquis!!!

These are some of mine:

Naomi Wildman
Icheb
Joe Carey (RIP)
Lon Suder (RIP)

Well, Naomi probably would become an adult by 7 or 8 if she was pure Ktarian. Since she is half human, I'd say 9 or 10? So Icheb would only have to wait about four more years. Yeah, I think the Ktarian lifespan is about the same as humans -- they just mature way more quickly.

Perhaps once they reach sexual maturity Ktarians age at the rate of humans? It wasn't really established, but perhaps the Ktarian homeworld is so harsh that maturing faster was a survival strategy for the species at its inception.

Perhaps once Naomi reached maturity for a Ktarian/Human hybrid her fast maturation rate would slow down?

Either way that'd be something interesting for fanfiction authors to tackle.

Seska , Suder and Reg Barclay - I don't rememebr seeing Hom in VOY - I'll have to dig through my dvds! WHich epi was he in?

Good question. I liked Tal Celes and Seska. I also did like Naomi and Icheb, though not as much. If you were to ask which minor character I wish had been more developed then I would probably say Tal Celes.

Well, Ro Laren, there is fanfiction for that venue. I'm doing one where Tal Celes is a major character. Check the fic in my signature.

So, he'd be waiting 2 years, she'd overtake him and surge ahead briefly till she tappers off and he catches up 2 years later? Now that's pure Tracy Hepburn. We are talking about Icheb changing form the appearance of a 16 year old human to the appearance of a 20 year old human. Personally I think anyone under thirty is just Sperm that has learnt how to walk upright by accident, but I'm a horse of another colour.

Although in that list you made, you might mean Naomi II, since Naomi I was RIP.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Dwight Schultz as Barclay. He was in First Contact too. I believe the FC features disc had special on him about his connection throughout the years with many ST episodes and the film.

I see I didn't read your question carefully. I meant that's how long they would both have to wait to reach physical maturity. Mental maturity is another story. You asked about a romantic payoff, not when they would physically mature. Sorry about that. I guess it would be best if they waited a few more years than that.

Yes, I meant the one who survived the episode "Deadlock."
