Who is your least favorite athlete?

What they did was wrong, sure, but they weren't the only team to do it... blah blah blah

Of course what they did was wrong. Hence the term cheating. And other teams supposedly doing it excuses nothing.

Yes, and it was wrong and dumb of them. But, the hype and media attention devoted to it is absolute bullshit. If it was the Detroit Lions doing it, no one would give two shits. But because it was the premire team in the NFL, its a huge deal. Honestly, after all of it, I think I can speak for many Pats fans that we don't care what the rest of the league, or the country think about the team. We will support them through anything, and Bill Belichick is the same way. There is a point at which the anger for cheating ( and honestly, its not like it was that big of a thing, there is nothing anyone can tell me that taping defensive signals really helps a team in game) ends, and what begins is people using it as an excuse for the Pats kicking everyones ass. All three of those Superbowl teams had the talent to win it all. But at this point, it seems that people are pissed that there is less evidence against them then previously indicated, and that they may not be the "evil, arrogant" Patriots after all.

Attitudes like this is why cheating in sports has, and will become, more rampant. The "ends justifies the means", don't apologize even when you're dead wrong mentality. The Pats are justifiably under a lot more scrutiny since their taping practices came to light. Who is going to catch more flack? The college student who cheats to pass a test, or the college student who cheats to pass a test and becomes the valedictorian? You cannot have a team accused of breaking the rules, purposefully and knowingly, going on to become Superbowl champions. It places the integrity of the entire game at risk. This is why the NBA ref betting scandal was such a big deal. This is why Bonds' steroid use and HR record are such a big deal.

You can say all you want that these other teams had the talent to win the Bowl. That's not the problem. The problem is whether or not the Pats would have gotten as far as they did without cheating. And that question cannot be answered.

Ah, the Pats DID apologize, and they were fined for what happened. And the same way you can say that the Pats might not have won those Superbowls without the cheating, I could say that they might have. It can go both ways. Thats why those wins, do, and always will count.

Should we take away the Yankees late 90's World Series victories because of the PED users on those teams?

I have been a die-hard Rams fan for 30 years. I wept like a little girl when Mike Jones stopped Kevin Dyson one yard from the goalline. It ranks just behind the birth of my children as the Greatest Moment of My Life.

And I'm telling you all right now....the reason the Rams lost to the Patriots in 2002 was that the New England defense smashed the Rams right in the mouth. Repeatedly.

I agree that New England (or anyone else for that matter) shouldn't break the rules, and the Pats have paid for their adventures in videotape.

But even I don't think they cheated to win the Super Bowl.

I do hate them, though. Very, very much.

:scream:

To everyone who mentioned A-Rod: He is, AFAIK, still on the disabled list. But you wouldn't gloat about that...would you? :vulcan:

Shaq- no class. Coaches, players, and GMs bend over backward to accommodate him, then when he moves on to a new team he badmouths the people on the old one

Whic is why although I hate the NBA with a passion, I cringed when he was traded to Phoenix for Shaun Marion.

To add to the list:

Eli Manning - every bit the asshole his big brother is.
Kurt and Kyle Busch - their "I can do nothing wrong" bit got old real fast.
Tony Stewart - Has a tendency to voice his opinion on everything and does not know when to shut up.

Deion Sander - For being more PR than player

Terrell Owens - "the story is ME!"

Randy Moss - just an awful human being

Dante Culpepper - A truly selfish quarterback

Hershel Walker - The Vikings gave away the whole future for this guy, on a crucial week before a game with the Eagles he tries out for the Olympic bobsled team, plays like shit, then says afterward he was tired from the tryouts; when its all said and done he can't figure out why people got upset by that

Kyle Lohse - routinely drops five runs in five innings, then complains that he lost because there wasn't enough offense

Derek Jeter - deeply over rated and if I hear the words "Yankee Captain" again from some gushing TV announcer who did no research on the opposing team ...

Any Yankee - because it's the only team that is at the center of the steroids investigation

In his new book, Walker revealed that he suffers from multiple personality disorder. I'm sure that had a lot to do with his erratic behavior.

Really. I thought it was the San Francisco Giants. Hell, the GM is going to retire at the end of the season because in part of the whole stariod situation.

Any Giants player been implicated, other than Bonds? On the other hand, a significant number of the players named in the Mitchell report were Yankees.

Being from Toronto. Vince Carter. What a worthless sack of crap. I hope they take that statue of him at his high school and burn it to the ground. It gives me great pleasure that the Jets didn't make it to the playoffs this year. :D

I'm going to freak some people out here:

1. Jason Varitek. Any catcher who picks a fight (I don't care with who) and doesn't have the balls to take his mask off? No. No respect from me there. That's just cowardice.

A not-so-close second? Derek Jeter. Doesn't it behoove a team with exposure like the Yankees have to have a captain who isn't whoring his way through New York City? Didn't they get over that with Mickey Mantle's womanizing ways? Yeah, thats JUST the kind of role model kids should have.

And then of course there's Pedro Martinez, or as I've come to call him, "Satan". He'll headhunt with the best of them, but not when he would have to bat. Yet another POS Coward.

Ah, TerriO brings up one of my favorite Red Sox moments. Tek doing the beatdown on A-Rod was one of the highlights of my Red Sox watching career, and add to the fact that my all time favorite Red Sox player Bill Mueller won that game off Mariano Rivera, made it that much better.

If he'd done that to anyone other than a member of the Yankees, how would you think of him? Seriously, a catcher picking a fight, but not having the balls to take off his mask? This is okay purely because he's picked the fight with a player for the Yankees? Anything is okay, as long as it's done to the Yankees, right?

You're okay with backing a pugilist who won't face his opponent on equal footing? Because I'm not.
